Yes, need the full season tracking... That may bring the average down a little bit.

Self selection bias applies to all who logged their fuel consumption, not just Prius drivers.

Source: Dealers Latest to Settle With VW Over Diesel Scandal | TheDetroitBureau.com

. . . Volkswagen has reached another settlement covering its 650 U.S. dealers.

The maker will pay about $1.2 billion over the next 18 months to cover the losses dealers claim to have run up as a result of the scandal, in large part due to a sharp drop in the maker’s sales. Along with cash payments, VW will provide “additional benefits” to those dealers. The announcement moves Volkswagen closer to resolving its ongoing legal problems, though it still faces a number of additional challenges, including lawsuits by shareholders.

The $2 billion environmental fine they have to pay can go towards installing a lot of EV charging infrastructure.

Maybe that is why GM didn't feel the need to invest in CSS infrastructure for the Bolt.

Source: Renault considers killing off diesel engines - BBC News

Renault's move was reported by Reuters and has not yet been officially announced.

Senior Renault executive Thierry Bollore has said that tougher emissions standards and testing methods would make diesel engines uneconomic to make. He told a meeting of Renault bosses in July that diesel engines had already been removed from the company's smallest cars, such as the Twingo, even before the Volkswagen scandal.

By 2020, when more stringent EU emissions standards come into force, larger Renault cars such as the Clio and the Megane are unlikely to have diesel engine variants.

Looking for something else, I found the November 2013 article: BMW: More EVs and Hybrids Only Way To Meet Regulations

According to the UK’s Autocar, the head of BMW’s product development “warned” that this is the only way for it to meet tightening European CO2 regulations calling for 95g/km by 2020.

Long an innovator in gasoline and diesel powertrains, the regulatory handwriting is on the wall to go hybrid and EV, said Herbert Diess, BMW’s board member for development. As such, BMW will need to push the limits of what can be done with battery power . . .

This pre-dates the VW (and other) diesel emissions scandal. It makes sense that BMW might make this commitment because it was a BMW diesel that actually showed in field testing that they can meet USA standards.

    Thanks.
I do not like to read about engineers doing bad but it happens. However, I see this like the "burglars" at the Watergate. He and his co-workers will reveal their management meetings and that will travel up the food-chain. But I suspect the top guys have already resigned … without admitting what they approved.

IMHO, any engineer who hasn't reached out to the corporate ethics group is a problem. I have, once, not because I was out to cause grief but to clarify a situation. Their advice was to take it up with my chain-of-command which I did which also let them know my position on ethics and engineering. It worked.

We had something else pop up this last year but I was 'isolated' from the principals and their closed door meetings. Fortunately 'reality' raised her hand and 'the best laid plans of mice and men.' They did the right thing even if for the wrong reasons. Given the opportunity, I have no doubt it would happen again.

Yep. Our next door neighbor has one. I posted a picture of it on pc, & he bought it right when they first came out. He's had the thing at least a year by now.

If you know and if he's said... How is he liking it? Mpg's?, etc?

    Thx.

FYI. I used to own a manual transmission Chevy Cruze Eco. It was a decent car and pretty fun to drive but It def did not get the advertised mpg's.. I installed a K&N Intake and it responded better but still was not anywhere near advertised mpg's...
