As far as hybrid SUVs, the full list for 2016-2017, in descending fuel economy order, bold for marques that aren't Toyota or Lexus:

Toyota RAV4 Hybrid (33 combined AWD, 2.5 I4, power split)
Lexus NX 300h (33 combined FWD, 32 combined AWD, 2.5 I4, power split)
Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid (31 combined AWD, 2.0 H4, CVT - if you count it as an SUV, the EPA does, but it's really just an Impreza Hatch on stilts... and if you count it as a non-Toyota, with Toyota's investment in FHI)

Nissan Murano Hybrid (29 combined FWD, 28 combined AWD, 2.5 supercharged I4, CVT)

Touareg Hybrid appears to have been discontinued for 2016, so that's out.

 

It is now a PHEV; no plain hybrid version. So while there are some among those registered hybrids, there won't be any more. This is also true of other brand's hybrids.

I'm working under the assumption that a diesel forum isn't counting plug in hybrids for their announcement.

Doing a power search at Fueleconomy.gov for model year 2015 diesels, there are 39 cars, truck, and SUVs. 11 for just SUVs. Some would be counted twice if there is an AWD option.

For hybrids, there are 46. 13 SUVs with the same possible double count.

The large pick ups aren't being counted under this since a window sticker MPG isn't required of them. I'm sure these diesels are counted for registrations

The g-Golf is a cracking car yet it has only sold 129 cars in 2 years in the UK, 53 in 2014 and 76 in 2015. Pathetic. Nissan in contrast sold 1,000's of their Leaf as did Tesla with their model S. VW just won't sell the e-Golf here, or make it so hard it's almost impossible to buy one.

Can't see them changing their spots in the future.

Well, the wait continues. We were supposed to get details of the settlement this Tuesday, June 21st. The judge agreed to a request by VW, the EPA and the mediator (former FBI Director Muller) to delay release for a week, until June 28th, as the parties were resolving technical details, whatever that means. The hearing to discuss (and hopefully approve) the settlement hasn't moved, it's still on July 26th. The public comment period is therefore reduced by a week. If the parties want comments, they can review the 37,000+ post thread at TDIClub...

Still enjoying driving the JSW TDI, but I'm looking forward to this being done.

A South Korean court on Friday issued the first warrant for the arrest of a Volkswagen AG (VOWG_p.DE) executive in connection with its cheating of vehicle emissions tests, in another blow to the German automaker's efforts to move on from the scandal.

The warrant is the first to be levelled against a Volkswagen executive anywhere in the world after the firm in September admitted to using software to falsify pollution tests on some diesel cars, spurring legal action in the United States, Germany, South Korea and elsewhere.​

I don't object but think the VW Board of Directors should also be listed and some former VW employees and managers.
