Most people who buy a Prius are motivated by fuel economy. If you are comparing a Prius to a vehicle that gets less than 20 mpg, you are comparing apples and oranges. There are a lot of vehicles that fit in a class that includes those two vehicles. A Toyota Sequoia gets almost as good fuel economy as the XC90, is more reliable, and safer. You could also look at the GMC Suburban, new Jeep Grand Cherokee, etc. etc.
