The 52kWh "Lite Launch Edition" and the 77kWh "Pro Launch Edition" have a cruising range of 388km and 561km, respectively, in WLTC mode. Vehicle weights are 1950kg and 2140kg respectively, largely due to the difference in battery weight (52kWh is 344kg, 77kWh is 493kg).

　This battery sits on a floor pareto with a built-in cooling circuit to maintain a stable environment of 25 degrees. Cooling is important because the battery is the heart of the BEV and heat management can make a difference in life and charging speed. Volkswagen guarantees that the vehicle will retain more than 70% of its capacity even after eight years or 160,000 km."

VW hasn't pushed back the release date yet. If they do, it will likely be the same reason as with the Outlander, selling everyone made elsewhere.

As of now, it's sometime this year. Which follows the ID.4 release schedule of being a year behind Europe availability.

 

Good news, as of Tuesday, 18 April 2023, The Treasury Department clarified that the locally built ID.4 fully qualifies for the full $7,500 EV Tax Credit because they finally established what makes a SUV different from a car.

This means the ID.4 is a SUV under their rules, which means it fits under the $80,000 price cap.
