I have a 2006 Prius that was built in November 2005, according to the info sticker on the driver's side door post. It suffers from the non-functioning "AM" and "AM radio" command. Have brought the car in twice to the dealer for warranty work on this issue (May after reading about the issue here at PC, and again in August).

Progress! Third trip to my local dealer was the charm! Asked me to drop the car off all day for them to play with it and to work with the "California Techs" via phone and e-mail.

I also provided them a copy of the document referenced in this PC post: http://priuschat.com/index.php?showtopic=15018&st=0

Told them (again) that there were TWO issues. One was "AM radio" command, the other was explained in the document.

This evening when I picked up my car, they said they (and the California Techs) had adjusted all sorts of audio gain, microphone sensitivity, and a bunch of other settings, and finally came to the conclusion that the new DVD (which will be coming out in November 2006) would fix whatever the issue(s) is/are.

    More in November.

I have the same build date. It had the same AM command problem. It was fixed in early spring when my NAV system died and they replaced both the DVD and the NAV unit itself (couldn't eject the old DVD). I believe that at least one other person got the AM command fixed with just a DVD replacement. It seems that there are multiple versions of the DVD with the same NAV data but other tweaks to the voice command, which is why only the 11/05 build seems to have the problem. My new DVD has a "D" on it, no clue about my original one. They could have fixed your problem anytime during the year with an updated DVD.

However, at this point I would wait for the new DVD if and when it comes out. The NAV data comes from NAV-TEQ and I know from experience with an Audi that they are often very late with updates.

    Tom,
My dvd has the following "identification" codes silkscreened on it: U40 and then D under that. Also, 86271-47040 and 464210-0700 and DATA ver.05.1

Well, the "D" isnt it. However, mine is 464210-0701. DATA ver.05.1. So there is a numbering difference. I am assuming that the same DATA version means that the NAV data is the same, but the 0701 indicates the voice mode correction(s).
