Very hot rear discs after pad replacement

    Well supposedly my brakes are perfectly fine, according to the master tech. The tech knew about properly resetting the caliper piston on a Prius, said all the various pins and stuff were lubed properly and the caliper is moving like it should. I showed the tech the video of the wheel barely turning when it was jacked up, and he basically said it wasn't that bad in the shop.

    They confirmed they did not pull the 12v and reset the ECU, which was my other line of reasoning for why the fuel economy was so bad.

    I guess we'll see if it is just some weird temporary thing.

    I think you need a new mechanic.

    I’ll wager you’ve got a swath of rust on the backside of the rotor (where the pad’s not making contact), and extreme beveled wear (due to caliper piston bearing on the pin on the pad’s backing plate.
