Verizon will now upload .40 software. To transfer phone numbers to Prius (has to be one at a time) get you a palm zire 72 with bluetooth.
1.Bond it to the handsfree in the car. 2. Go to contact program and input all of your numbers, using first name line. Use full name if you want. 3. file them in a new catagory such as Prius. Once this is done bring the v710 into the car and let the prius find it. Go to settings in the prius and select transfer numbers. It will ask you add or overwrite. Always add. Go to the zire and select a contact. It will come up bold on its own page. Tap the contact tab and select " send contact" Thats all there is to it.! the phone will disconect , the file will be transfered. Repeat the act from the "transfer contact" screen till you are done. :guns: Verizon will now upload .40 software. You are doing nothing wrong other than not using a BT cell phone. The Prius software is designed to do two things with a Bluetooth cell phone. 1) Act as a hands free head set and 2) Receive address book phone contacts from a cell phone. If you have a BT cell phone successfully connected with the Prius, you can send address book phone contacts from another BT source, ie laptop, pda, computer, and the Prius will accept them as if they are being the cell phone. In reality this should probably be considered a programming error or security hole, but it works for transferring phone lists to the Prius and IMO is actually better than using a BT phone that only transfers one contact at a time.

Personally, I discovered that the old, POS Sony T68i that I bought off ebay for $33 worked like a champ for the purpose of phonebook transfer. I mean it took all of 5 minutes to get it to pair with the car and transfer the entire contents of the phonebook (about 45 entries.....in one fell swoop). Definitely worth considering for those of us who otherwise like our V710s.

Frankly, I feel foolish enough spending $33 to get this done. I imagine I'd feel considerably dumber spending over $200 solely to get the contents of my phonebook transferred to my car and, even then apparently through what appears to be a convoluted process.

folks. So I received a new v710 from Verizon since my old one had the "camera tilt" issue. Luckily, the new one has the new firmware. A few observations and a question:

o The camera image quality is definitely better. I got to hold them side-by-side (old and new) and there was a difference. Still not great, but improvement is always good. :)

o As has been noted elsewhere, what this update does break is iSync (for Mac users) being able to sync via USB cable. Oh well. I only sync once every six months at most, so after doing some manual transfers via OnSync, I'm pretty much set.

o Question: I now have caller ID and signal strength in the car thanks to the update, but for some reason it's not ringing. I get audio muting and the display (as before), but no ring. Is there something I'm supposed to set on the v710 that I'm just not seeing? (The v710 _will_ ring or vibrate, however.)

    Thanks!

    Peace and Prosperity,
    Dipesh
