Can we please stop with the totally senseless FUD? If your house leaks so much that an OPEN garage is going to send car fumes inside in significant concentrations, it is going to leak them OUT just as fast. Otherwise, people who live next to a busy road would be falling dead every day. Alternatively, if you want people to actually take you seriously, please give is ACH50 numbers for houses, and pressure differences between garages and houses, that would have this problem.

Ever heard of BOLT CUTTERS? Or do thieves in your neighborhood have slim jims, but not bolt cutters. It is ok to give up on your opinion you know, you don't need to chase it further and further from reality.

Yeah. The only reasons why my salesman showed me at delivery is in the event I need to hand off the car to someone. One must also remember to give them the key too.... otherwise, if they have no key fob, they will be stuck and unable to restart.

wattage is voltage times current so.........2 amps? b/c 120 volts divided by 60 watts is 2 amps

Senseless? People die from the use of combustion engines in basements and garages quite often. One of these events occurred in a nearby town just a few months ago, after a storm knocked the power out. The deaths are what are senseless. ACH50 numbers? As if all homes are air tight. So you know the exact air circulation of this person’s home? Always better to be safe than sorry or dead.

you already know the wattage, you know the voltage so the answer is simple, 120/60=2

YOU made a SPECIFIC claim. That opening the garage door made things worse. Back that up if you can!

Everyone I know has a "combustion engine" in their basement. Many have them in their kitchens and living rooms as well.

there are 98% efficient furnaces out there, they still give off carbon monoxide, doesn't take much to kill you

No I said it COULD make it worse depending on the circulation in the person’s home. Your semantics aren’t funny. I wouldn’t call furnaces, gas stoves, and fireplaces combustion engines. If those are designed correctly they vent outside the home. Running a car or generator in a house or a connected building is asking for trouble.

Oh, yeah, I completely agree with you about the car or gas generator IS asking for trouble, all I was saying I know the PIP is extremely efficient, so is a 98% furnace but I wouldn't have either of them running in my house, garage un vented or without a carbon monoxide detector.

and gas stoves, furnaces, and fireplaces do use combustible fuels which give off carbon monoxide

No they don’t have bolt cutters here, they just have hammers to break out the driver’s windows on Prii and steal the ones people leave running as generators. Besides if all else fails I have a shotgun.:)

"Liberals were freaking out this week and they were borderline suicidal, which is tough on them because when you lock yourself in the garage with the Prius running, nothing happens." –Bill Maher

Having said that the issues are CO and O2 depletion. When we say not much CO is made by a Prius we are assuming (1) catalytic muffler is working @100% and (2) we are assuming 21% O2. Who knows how much CO a Prius makes if the garage is only 19% O2, and by the way that is getting into the danger zone - you need your full dose of O2.
