i do not know, but here is a customer perspective on build quality that I mentioned earlier. Inferior US Build (Cost Cutting) vs Japan Build | Toyota Nation Forum From a customer perspective, decisions to cut corners on design details also get blamed in the overall build quality.
2024 U.S. Initial Quality Study (IQS) | J.D. Power (jdpower.com) "Toyota Motor Corporation models that rank highest in their respective segment are Lexus IS, Lexus LC, Lexus UX and Toyota Camry." This is an award and quantitative evaluation by a well-respected company in the Automotive Sector, an independent entity- not an internet poster with no credentials
“Rank highest in their respective segment “ at what? ram and porsche? sorry, i just can't buy it. rear seat reminders, carplay, screen messages, these are not things i consider when talking about assembly quality.
Really? For the Camry it means the mid-size sedan category. If a person questions the credentials of the bestselling car in the US for the last 25 years as well as the many awards and recommendations from all over the automotive world by educated, informed evaluators there is probably some sort of problem there. Why not just look at the latest evaluation of the vehicle and how it compares with other comparable offerings from Consumer Reports. Why did you buy a Camry? I'm sure there will be some sort of off brand answer - but the real reason is its a great car for a great value with legendary reliability. I'll go with the professional's opinions on the car not internet posters. I posted many hard facts with references for my feeling as well as experience - your posted references and facts = 0. This seems like trolling at its best - I'm done.
glad to see your done posting jd power nonsense. i have real world experience. i never said anything about camry overall quality vs the competition, only the difference between american and japanese workers. i realize you are a former employee and slightly biased, i did not mean to hurt your feelings. american quality has come a long way, and probably further in toyota factories than anywhere, but still not up to japanese standards regarding details of assembly.
btw, the controls and carplay in my american made bev are excellent, no different than any gas powered vehicle. people who buy a tesla and complain about those things even though they work properly should be excluded from all surveys. disqualified on the basis of ignorance.
I suspect quality control the world round is getting more "homogenized", for better or worse. Toyota Japan could have avoided 3 significant 3rd Gen Prius clangers, with more diligent testing. I suppose they're "learning", from their North American counterparts. This comes to mind: Gung Ho (film) - Wikipedia.
In my opinion, based on early experiences with my 2017 Prius, it should have not been deemed roadworthy due to the crazy full screen notifications causing driver distraction. Most of them cannot be turned off either. I eventually got used enough to tolerate them, I so not need a full screen alert every time the radar cruise either senses a vehicle in front or ceases to see it. A much smaller icon would suffice. When I first drove the car at home on the dark highway, I was distracted to the point of being dangerous. You initially assume full screen alerts refer to potentially dangerous conditions, not just information.
in my bolt, if i look behind me before putting it in reverse to back out of the garage, i get a full screen alert to keep my eyes on the road and have to press okay before i can shift
I think the notifications will be much better on my 2025 Camry, based on my test drive of an SE with the smaller screens.
Oh, you precious boomer. I'm sorry I called out your racism. Please go watch fox news and yell at clouds. It'll be ok.
It is a FACT that all races in the US are mainly taught to be privileged & lazy. You cannot call it racism because this is across all races. Those who can think logically, outside the box are fewer & farther between.
Clearly Japanese automobile engineering is excellent unless their Americanized management style says build it cheaper while still increasing mpg AND let’s use the Prius as the test bed for Advanced Safety Systems. While maintaining schedule of course. Bisco is unlikely to be brainwashed by Fox News but he may watch it. Who knows? Saying the US has car assemblers that are worse than others says nothing about race even if the quality in US factories is statistically inferior. It is interesting the American built Tundra has more problems than the Mexican built Tacoma.
Statistical insignificant sample size. We own a Ky built and a Canadian built Toyota. The Canada built one was early in the model redesign and had problems typical of that and were prevalent on vehicles built no matter the factory. Once those were handled at no charge there have been no issues. The Ky was a mature design but had a dent in the trunk lid probably resulting from dealer mishandling. Other than that it has been flawless. Both have the industry wide air bag recalls pending.
