I think they are. After you receive your registration go to servicearizona.com and you can order them.
My husband and I bought 2 Prii last weekend and we're sweating bullets. There are about 400 HOV plates left. We're keeping our fingers crossed that the regular plates will be here fast enough that we can order the HOV plates in time.
If you don't mind me asking... What dealership in Arizona did you buy from and how much did you pay for your Prius's?
We bought from the new Riverview Toyota dealership in Mesa (replaces Scott Toyota on the Scottsdale Motor Mile). Our salesman was Derrick and we were very satisfied with him. Worked out to about $60K for both with the 6-year/100K bumper-to-bumper extended warranty and 5-year/75K maintenance plan on both.
Just curious who told you there were 400 left? Also, you should have been able to order your plate right from the dealer. He should have had the form. Big Two took care of it for me. I'd imagine you can fill out the form now even before receiving your standard plate. What's interesting is they sent me both the standard and environmental plate...and even two registrations. I assumed they did this so when the environmental plate expires they can send out a letter saying to swap plates and send the old one back. I believe the "test program" for the environmental plate expires in 2010 or 2011 after which I imagine we have to send the plate back (assuming the program isn't extended).
The Department of Transportation website (Motor Vehicle Division) is keeping a running total of the 10,000 plates available. Maybe Riverview Toyota staff are too new to know about ordering the plates. To apply now, the form requires info from the existing plate so we have to wait for the registration to come in the mail. Good to know about Big 2, though. Gonna call Riverview and ask if anything can be done at this point. Thanks!
There are 575 plates available now. Woo hoo! We're heading in the right direction for you to get one.
Just 228 left now. I think they'll be gone by the end of the month, if the Toyota and Honda dealers can get enough inventory to sell.
so now the best choice is to really earn the HOA lane and car pool. Just becuase the plates are gone to allow 1 person in the HOA lane doesn't mean you can't car pool. One of my firends gets an incentive from work for car pooling.
