I'm actually down with that one. The ready light is just another thing on the dash imho, but that stupid airbag light is damn annoying.

There actually is a switch for that, it is in the passenger seatbelt buckle!

I would like the speedo to go blank once I am at a constant speed, only coming on if my speed changes, that would be cool ...

    ... not.

I would like to have a button that I could press that would make the car Pulse and Glide maintaining the average speed I am at when I press the button. Then there should be another button that streams satellite TV through the HSI and the # of channels it lets me receive is based on my instantaneous MPG. Also is there anyway to add microvacuums to the seats so they clean themselves? I really can't believe this isn't a feature. Also I get annoyed by seeing other drivers lights at night - can we have an automatically tinting front windshield for night time use??

First my apology to the OP ... disabling the "READY" light or moving it about the cabin is not an option described in the Owner's Manual, which we have all read. Furthermore, the display technology has fixed the text and locations in the panel. There is no way to change "READY" and its operation in the vehicle without extensive and expensive changes. But this begs the question ... why?

The "READY" can be 'spoofed' by the proposed systems ranging from masking tape to more interactive systems. But "Is it worth it?" remains ... what value is there in changing "READY"?

There are times when making a change to the vehicle has a pay-off. For example, the 1.5L Prius had to reach 70C coolant temperature before it could go into S4, the 'hybrid mode.' On a cool morning, this could take 5-6 minutes and impact MPG ... especially when this was a significant part of the commute. This led to different approaches:

    1. The most popular modification was to install an engine block heater that could save 1-2 minutes of the engine warm-up. This worked great at homes with an external outlet but was a problem at work places that lacked external power.
    2. Another approach was to 'spoof' the engine temperature sensor so as soon as the engine reached 40C, it suddenly began reading 70C, saving 3 minutes of warm-up on the other side and not requiring external power. But this required a circuit that modified the car.
    3. The third approach changed the route so during the first 5 minutes, the car is not put in a high-power demand. But this approach is hard to quantify and added time to each commute.
Regardless of approach, they improve winter mileage ... not to summer levels but at least avoiding the worst winter depths. More importantly, they saved fuel, a real expense. There are times when vehicle modifications: (1) improve safety, (2) reduce costs, or (3) improve utility. These are the types of modifications that interest me. In contrast, the payback from "READY" never seemed to rise to this level.

So the simple answer is the "READY" light operation as described in the Owner's Manual is fixed. Furthermore, the technology used to implement the "READY" light is unlikely to be modified easily beyond masking it.

For the OP, the "ready" light is actually needed. If you stop and forget to turn the car off, and it beeps at you when you open the door, a quick glance at the dash will tell you the car is NOT off! Very important!

"Ready" tells you the car is on. Nothing else does all the time. The car can be on but not moving. The car can be off but moving (you can put it in "N" and pull a fuse, then turn it off, which will allow it to be pushed around a showroom at will, for example, or even pushed down the road or rolled down a hill). It's an indicator that the car is on. Just like the gear indicator. It tells you what the car will try to do if the accelerator is depressed ("D" for depart, "N" for nothing, "R" for ram, and "B" for bloody $^&*. ;)

The only way to disable it is a hardware modification. That would put your warranty in jeopardy.
