in my classic 01 prius , i can glide above 42 real easy, takes no effort to maintain, this is due to my overheating battery, plus outside temperature ( must be above 80 degrees)

i average 54 mpg on highway driving

Where did PriusNomogram2.pdf come from? It looks to be for
the Classic, given the 4500 max ICE RPM, and it totally misses
    heretical mode on the highway.

Instead of getting into reflashing, we know that if you are above 42 with the engine stopped and in neutral it will stay off, could you just issue the command for engine stop while in neutral above 42 and the engine idling? Could can-view be programmed to do this?

From what my understanding of canview is: it's basically like a scangauge. It talks with ECU and other computers.

So lets say a "CAN" engine stop command existed. Even if we were able to send it and have the engine ECU obey, the other computers would probably immediately send a "Holy shit, the engine is off, the MG1 is reaching the red rev limit, start the engine NOW!" message to the ECU of the engine.

That may be the way to do it. Does anyone know if this is possible.

Has anyone experienced damage to the MG1 due to "overrevving" while coasting in neutral?

Do you all realize that the manual says: " do not, under any circumstances, shif the lever to N while the vehicle is moving -- doing so can cause significant damage to the transmission..." page 124 of 2998 maunual.

My question is: what is N for? When would one use it?

    Sorry for the typos,

    I meant to say:

We have speculated about this in Prius_Technical_Stuff and the two leading hypothesis are:
    • mechanical stress - flies apart
    • electrical stress - over voltages destroyes inverter assembly
However, I don't know of anyone who has performed the 'forbidden experiment.'
