I asked my dealer awhile back, they said for install and alignment it would $285. I didn't think was to bad.

Those quotes have to be reversed. The rear install is very simple & should take an experienced mechanic less than an hour for both. It's a bit trickier with the sway bar installed but not that much. You can find good instructions in the Mods forum.

The fronts mean taking the struts off, which isn't very difficult if one has a 3 ft breaker bar - the lower nuts are torqued to approx. 160 ft-lbs. Again, an experienced mechanic should complete both fronts in 1.5 hrs, 2 hrs max.

Alignment is extra, should be $70 or so.

BTW, I've done all my own suspension mods.

ucsmfu, $120 sound to cheap. The alignment is $70 alone. The standard shop rate is $80 per hr. So their charging u $50 for both front & rear install?

I would be very careful using that place. They might start the work & come out saying its going to cost more to complete the install.......& they will do it when the car is already pulled apart so ur screwed.

You definitely want them using the right tools, not a crowbar and hammer [IMG]

For anyone that doubt I got PLUS lowering springs installed for $120.00 in 2 hours with alignment, a complimentary car wash (which i get for the life of owning the Prius anyways) AND a free rental.

My 2012 Corolla rental while the PLUS springs were installed:

Like I've mentioned before, I got the special rate 'because of a special circumstance. I doubt you can waltz in there and get it done for $120.

Haha yeah I suppose, but it's all due to a screw-up at the dealership. Getting my rear sway bar installed for a bargain as well. I'd do it myself and write a DIY in the process but I don't think I'm willing to compromise on time since the weekend is all I really have to chillax, lol.

It's a little more bumpy than a regular Prius but I have the full Plus Perf Package :) Seeing you have a v already, you are used to the stiffer 17's so you'll be fine with the springs. Buy 'em :)

Yep, get-r-done :) You'll love them once their in. They look cool, and function excellent. The struts & shocks could use a bit more rebound dampening but it isn't bad, just a little quick. Very flat cornering and with the right tires, the car is like riding a go-cart :) Now all it needs is a software tweak to unleash the 300 something foot pounds of torque the electric motor is capable of [IMG]

How's the ground clearance on TRD springs? did not get a chance to read whole thread if anyone has already asked.. I live in Houston, TX. I just got springs from dealer for 175.50 + Tax - they were quoting me $500 to install with alignment - but after seeing that $120 steve paid it feels like a robbery in progress.

I've only scratched the bottom of my front when I pulled out of my driveway too fast with stock springs - never will do that again. I feel the drop with springs is mandatory though if I want to upgrade my wheels/tire :cautious: - I just don't want to screw up the car when I'm driving with all the bumps and potholes in Texas when stock Prius are already low IMO.
