Once upon a time I had a gen2. My screen name was ShellyT while I had it, if you can remember back that far. All those posts switched to Trollbait when I asked Danny for the name change.

In regards to what my dealer quoted me, they are in a richer town and also have a BMW dealership.

Isn't that where they check the blinker fluid and stuff?

Yep. I do my own oil changes and other maintenance items. I just wanted to see how much they would charge to do all those check items in the maintenance schedule, since some are easier with a lift.

It's about on par with U.S. luxury manufacturers' service prices. In Canada, an oil change will run about $200++ for a Lexus/MB/BMW/Audi and a service will be closer to $400-$500++ and that's before to add anything extraneous (like transmission fluid change or brake service)

What? An oil change is $55.95+ ($44.95+ with 5W-20). Standard service is $151.00+ (including labour+parts)

Different dealers take different routes. My dealer used to think the way to make money was to bilk people on the 15/30/ whatever services. They have ditched that model, and the normal service is pretty much by the book. Oil changes are $39 standard, I believe $50 synthetic. The 24 point whatever is included each visit. The multi checkup has proven to be of value, they check tires, tread depth, pressure, brakes and brake linings etc... Turn up water pump leaks during this one on older cars.

This dealer has great volume, and a very high percentage of repeat business. Many dealers have not learned the new ways yet, and people get screwed. Most of the other brand dealers here fall into the later category, including a Toyota dealer well north of here.

Many dealers still do not get the fact that many long-term car buyers also buy the dealer, not just the car.
