I often camp, sleeping in the car. Also, I read somewhere that 8 foot objects couldn't be carried in the gen4, so that might be a problem.

I carried a 10 foot box in my Prius PHV. (a lawn umbrella) It was for fine, resting on the dash in front with the door shut in back.

Sleeping wouldn't work as well though.

Yes, I have from time to time carried a few 10 foot plastic and/or metal pipes with one end on the dash. I often carry an 8 foot ladder and/or a large load of 8 foot lumber in my Gen1 plug in. It works well like a small SUV, lacking only the greater height of a SUV. Will the Prime be as functional?

The metal or plastic pipes on the dash are more likely to result in a cracked windshield than even a filled cardboard box.

From the poll/voting - one can see what most people were hoping to get ... and almost 90% seem to feel the same. It'd be nice to see a larger base of voters though.

    Where'd you hear that though?
I don't see why Gen4 could not do that unless the front seats won't go back.

Agreed sleeping in Prime could be issue due to raised cargo area.
John should be fine sleeping in his PiP1.

It's a very small sample but half of the respondents said 25-35 miles was expected. So realistically, that's what people expected and that's what Toyota has announced as preliminary specifications.

New cost is everything to toyota, but price is everything to me. sometimes the price is based on cost, and sometimes it's based on market conditions, which was plainly evident with pip 1.

kinda surprised. Toyota'd only want to meet the average expectation, rather than jump ahead, or even way ahead of the crowd.

Then they didn't need to have EV range for that. Better utility in passenger and cargo space, or price could have been a leap ahead. The Prime feels like Toyota looked at the other PHEVs out now, and came to the conclusion that the people buying them were happy with them, not that the people bought them because they were the only option, and expect better in the next generation.

    it's looking like
$29,000. for the base, less 4k fed = $25,000., now if you have a state rebate, could bring you below a similarly equipped lift back.
where would they put more battery, in yer lap?

Well, iirc, there's at least one manufacturer that lays'em out across the entire floor pan of the chassis - & that way you have a super great & low center of gravity.

well, it's obvious that phev is not toyota's priority, seeing that they didn't give the new tgna chassis any thought to battery placement.
i don't think they are paying attention to your posts.:p

couldn't agree more. but the focus groups insisted on it. along with every auto mag, who will never buy a gen 4 no matter how good it handles.

It's a small sample of a small (PriusChat) sample lol.

Except you still have an exhaust pipe for the Prime.
