Toyota Prius V with 17" Enkei RPF1s + 20% Tint

i just purchased 18x8 MOtegi Racing SP10 wheels with 225/40 tires. The combined weight is 41.6 lbs, a bit heavy - had wanted to keep under 40 lbs. However thought 225/40's were easier to live with than 215/40 despite weighing more.

I havent put them on the car yet, but wondering if you've experienced the slower acceleration / longer braking that another member had reported with same sized TRD wheels, 225/40 tires.

I really like the look of that.... very nice indeed.

But.......

 

i experienced the decreased acceleration right away but got over it pretty quick since the car doesnt accelerate that quick anyway. as for the braking, i havent noticed any decreased braking ability. btw im running the 225/40 setup too

 

How hard is it to see out at night? I'm getting 15% and I'm worried it will be TOO dark..

 

right on. you should lower your car, at least you know how it would look

 

The less aerodynamic design could cancel out some of the increase, as other posters have noticed. It would be interesting to see the real world result.

 

Are the wheels lighter that stock?

 

Personally I prefer the stock OEM 17" wheels better. Lowering the car would damage the front fascia on most curb cuts, and act like a broom for the considerable road debris one encounters on New York highways. Heavy truck tire rubber, various and sundry car parts, pipes, pieces of lumber, and the uneven roads from potholes, puddles that resemble the great lakes, etc. And my work takes me to new home sites often and they don't put in the paved driveway till the house is completed, so no thanks for the lowering of the car. Besides getting a jack under the car is difficult enough now to place correctly without any less space between the road and the bottom of the car.

 

did you guys notice any change in mpg's? what tire are you guys using. I am thinking of buying the same ones.

Wow, that looks great. Do you have any other shots of your car?

 

Looks awesome and I do like the lowering photshop. That is the only downside to rims with a lip/dish though, the always look smaller than they are.
