I don't know if you are being realistic or not. But your route up I95 will go close to Laurel MD. Laurel MD is where CarMax sells new Toyotas incl PiP (depending on availability). Possibly you could use them to check it out.
Well, I found a dealership that was able to meet my requirements.. my payment for the new car is 40.00 more a month then my current car. My current car was financed for 72 months. I have paid about 15 months, making it 57 months left. So, the new car is only 60 months with the payment only being 40.00 more a month. I figure the 2500.00 tax credit will make up for the 40.00 a month over the lifetime of the loan. So, basically, I will be getting a brand new car.. a plug in.. with a bunch of options my current car doesnt have for about the same amount. WIN WIN!! just need to go pick it up next weekend. This was well worth my effort this weekend.. only option I will not have is the sunroof.. but I guess I can live with that. apparently the plug ins still have the remote ac..
My dealer in MD told me that sales to out of staters is prohibited on PIP. Not sure if this is dealer specific or something from Toyota.
Well we have a least one Pennsylvania Prius Chat PiP owner who bought in MD, so my guess is that's dealer specific. Gee, I don't even own a PiP so I do not want to be overly pluggin' PiP's But if you think this is good $$ opportunity, you may need to go to one of 14 PiP roll-out states. These are (think I have them memorized now): CA, AR, WA, OR (west coast) and we have VA, MD, NJ, NY, ME, MA, CT, RI, VT (east coast) almost forgot NH There is some urgency as the Toyota sale is over Nov. 5 unless it is extended. For example in theory a West Virginia resident can get a PiP for <$20k after incentives, but would have to travel. Call ahead to confirm deal of course.
That is simply not true... Perhaps as you mentioned it may be THAT particular dealers policy but it is not the policy of Toyota.
I thought it didn't sound right but it didn't pertain to my deal so I didn't question it further. They also said there is only $3-400 to be made on each sale so the salespeople are not pushing them.
I actually had 2 dealerships fighting for my business. One in va and one in md.. Apparently they are stiff rivals.. The sales lady I had at one was so upset that the other dealership kept stealing her customers lol I still can't believe the deal I am getting!
... nice. last couple days the DC region Toyotas (VA/MD) have been advertizing quite heavily on radio. Now I hear about the Nov 5 deadline more often.
edit: Well with the 5000 cash back I am considering trade up to advance. Are there any restrictions on federal tax credit? Anyone ever tried to appraise their PiP? If so, how much was the offer?
i just checked the dealer i bought mine from. in april, they had never heard of the pip. now, they have 20 and $5,000. off select models. might be worth it to drive to cali, sel mine and fly home and buy a new one!
Curious minds (like me) want to know what F8L is doing about his PiP dreams, but you could meet him in St Louis and sell him yours.
Y not just trade it in Boston? MA is one of the states you can get the 2500 or 5000 rebate depending which model you get.
Until new offer??? We are still 6 weeks or more till the 2013 and looks like a lot of inventory out east.
...I let my fingers do the walking on BuyaToyota.com In VA and MD they say up to $5000 Finance Cash In Boston they say $3500 for PiP and $5000 for PiPA (PiP Advanced) ...dealer incentives could sweeten deal further they say...gimme some of that too, maybe I get a PiP someday
