Can't say I've seen anything from dbstoo in this thread to support that suggestion.

Like I've said in other posts.....
I've been on both sides of the Lexan shields.

You get to put "air quotes" around them when the protesters kill/injure/loot/burn.
No matter "how" deplorable they are.

For those that like to stare-and-compare:
2021 United States Capitol attack - Wikipedia
2020–2021 United States racial unrest - Wikipedia

The capitol hill riot/attack wasn't an "insurrection" as most adults understand the meaning of the word.
Had they killed as many people as....say....a Bernie Sanders supporter at a congressional ballgame, then Biden would have STILL been sworn in as POTUS on the 20th. Had they burned down the capitol and killed lots of lawmakers....or...even ANYBODY at all, then the net result would have been the same.
Had they killed enough people to pause the election process....if that were even possible given the nature of the elector process.....I'll bet there isn't one person in 100 who knows the USC (as amended) well enough to take a stab at who would have been sworn in as P46! (Hint - it would NOT have been P45! ;) )

As despicable as the THAT (and other) riots are - this particular riot IS different in one important way.
No....not the sitting VP offering to pay bail, but rather CAMERAS...or...more specifically how they are being USED. ;)
Most of the (surviving) 01/06/21 rioters HAVE been arrested and WILL be prosecuted.
06 January did not expose systemic weakness, but rather, demonstrated systemic strength.
People who do not understand that do not understand the American system of government.
Given the varying reaction to COVID....this misunderstanding is not limited to people that learned about our government in high school or by reading blogs..... ;)

    Not all insurrections are bad.
    Ask any Native American.

    Not all protesters are bad.
Ask any REAL civil rights worker.

    Yep.
Turns out that the First Amendment still works!
(They're somewhat hierarchical too! AS we're about to find out.....:D )

In your opinion, was January 6th a bad insurrection? Yes or no?

Regarding Citizens United... corporations are considered people because that designation allows them to own property according to the law (ie, only people can own property). Corporations being able to own property is necessary for business reasons. But the Supreme Court says "Well, since corporations are people, then they get to contribute money to candidates, too, as part of their constitutional rights as a person." That is what I consider too much of a stretch. But I've always been a "spirit of the law, rather than a letter of the law" kind of person.

NOT that it has anything to do with corporations, or the legal objection to accepting an elector....I'm thinking that Jan 6 WAS an insurrection LEGALLY.

It was a mob, and they broke federal law, injured some LEOs, and caused a few mil in damages......AND they're being prosecuted and jailed.
AND....just to be clear, I'm glad they are!!
Anybody that can be prosecuted should be, and if convicted given the maximum sentences allowed by the federal guidelines.

    However (comma!)
Armed mobs burning out a police station, murdering LEOs, burning out and looting stores, and setting up an exclusion zone enforced by armed "protesters" looks a little closer to the "act of rising against civil authority ..." to ME personally!
Some idiot wearing horns and putting their feet up on Pelosi's desk is just doesn't seem to meet the "spirit of the law"....

    Like I said:
For those that like to stare-and-compare:

2021 United States Capitol attack - Wikipedia
2020–2021 United States racial unrest - Wikipedia

We'll see in 2022 how it influences the mid-terms..... ;)

    People suck at reading minds.
That's why they CALL IT the LETTER of the law.
If it isn't written down.....it never happened.

    Ask Bill Cosby. :D

Actually you're incorrect in your interpretation... The ruling was related to furthering established precedent of money as a form of free speech and that restricting how much money that could be spent on an an election was an infringement of free speech and it needed to be addressed.

As for your other completely absurd question... This is what's in my inbox right now:

"The January 6 riot at the Capitol Building was stoked not only by Donald Trump, but also by several members of Congress who were spreading the lie of election fraud.

That lie continues to put our democracy in danger, and it is being used to help pass dozens of voter suppression laws that are threatening free and fair elections.3

But Toyota doesn’t care about that. Neither do Koch Industries, Cigna, AT&T, or the other corporations that donated to these politicians.4 All they care about are business-friendly tax laws, undermining worker rights and safety, and whatever raises their profits.

Demand Progress has been working to get corporate money out of politics from the very beginning.

We’re working to overturn the Citizens United decision, stop unlimited corporate spending, and pass public financing of elections to reduce the power of Big Money. Politicians should rely on ordinary voters to make their campaigns possible, not on billionaires or big corporations.

And right now, we’re working to pass H.R. 1, which would help keep corporate money out of politics.

We need to raise our voices above those of giant corporations. Will you donate?"

Show and Tell? Cool! Click on the news organization names to see the videos and/or read the full article.

"using footage captured by the failed insurrectionists themselves, took us inside what was happening, unfiltered. We didn’t have to imagine their vitriol. We could hear it in the reconstructed timeline — and it was more raw and frightening than many of us might have imagined."
    - Time

"While many Republicans continue to try to minimize the severity and breadth of the January 6th attack on the Capitol, the Justice Department released graphic new police bodycam video footage that proves once again just how violent Trump’s mob was."
    - Rolling Stone

"One recent, widespread narrative falsely alleges that a new video clip depicts police officers granting protesters permission to enter the Capitol. But the footage in question does not show that."
    - MSN

"On May 19, the Federal Bureau of Investigation released new video of two suspects in the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection attacking officers with metal knuckles and a police baton."
    - Washington Post

Actually spit out coffee reading THAT….

“…Especially in the late aughts, the Prius met that definition in the best possible way. The humble, socially conscious image booster was popular among very, very wealthy Americans

    Seems like a thesaurus fail….
    “Humble?”

    Riiiiiiight.

Exactly what impact do you think it has on the politicians when Toyota announces that they won't send them about $500 each in the future? Do you think that sends chills down their spines and suddenly changes their political beliefs? Personally, I doubt it.

I didn't happen to spot any contributions smaller than four figures, except the ones to Sinema on 3/8 and 3/17.

Where did your figure come from?

As the Sinema case illustrates, too, the contributions aren't necessarily one-offs.

    Adds up.

    Two personal data points:
    • contributed money to the Biden/Harris campaign
    • traded in 2017 Prius Prime for a 2019 Tesla Std Rng Plus Model 3
I don't fault Toyota Texas for doing what they think is best. Just I don't have to support them in any way shape or form available to me. My money talks, their bovine fecal matter sticks to the bottom of my shoes ... until I scrape and wash it off. Poor design choices for the Prius Prime are reflected in their other actions.

As @PriusCamper said, Toyota will change its politicash disbursements. We can't know if PriusChat voices played a role, but it looks like an improvement.

Better if it could be reported that Toyota actively supports democracy writ large (in countries where such is possible ). Wait and see on that. Yes I am picking at a scab here, but only in a plausibly deniable way. See me as a scared little mouse, if you like.
