Joe and Jack... I think we need to start a Prius Hanlees waiting club. I'm on their list as of last Wednesday, so you guys are WAY ahead of me! I just spoke with somebody down there yesterday, and was told that there would be a 2-week delay in deliveries because they're changing delivery ports. ???

What a bummer! I can only hope that being on 2 waiting lists will increase my odds of getting one before March 1st.

I suspect this is rumor, as the e-mail of the letter is of domain toyotavehicle.com, which is not a toyota-related website. I also perused the Internet, and am not getting any other hits on this. If true, I would suspect it would have picked up imediately from Associated Press and other news agencies.

I hope you are right. A salesman at Prius Online posted originally so I'm not sure what to believe. Maybe he's a Honda Civic Hybrid saleman?

I'm bailing, and giving up my #1 spot in line, tomorrow morning. Phillip Colwell said their original allocation was cut from 7 cars to ONE, and the allocation after that might be ZERO. After what Dianne (Carson) said, with 3.5 cars per dealer for 73 dealers coming in this allocation, I'm a believer. I've waited 4 months: enough. If you guys want cars (sounds as if you're not in so much of a hurry), do what I'm doing. You'll have it within 3-4 days!

I don't know what I'm going to do. I ordered my Prius in October and have been getting weekly phone calls from the dealer that they don't have a "build by" date yet. He called today and said he doesn't expect to see it now before April or May. I can't wait that long and he knows that. I've checked the local dealerships online and there don't seem to be any Prius sitting on the lots so I guess I have a decision to make.

It most definitely is NOT a rumor. Of the 15 CA dealers I called today, about half the salespeople started off with a spiel about "a coming acute Prius shortage due to production cutbacks in order to get the Camry Hybrid out".

    C. Rickey Hirose is Sales MANAGER for Fremont Toyota. He has so many people on his list, he's in deep doo-doo.

I think it's too "localized" (small/specific) a problem for news media even to be interested. If an "acute" shortage does develop, it might hit the news then, but it's a problem only between Toyota and a relative handful of their customers.

Mine was supposedly in the pipeline, but this is the first allocation (shipped 1/17) to be affected. And my dealer didn't call to tell me---I had to call him. Go figure.

I live in WV and the dealers around here have 3 to 4 cars each in the lower packages. I thought there might be a problem with my delivery so I checked. We got our #7 red last tuesday at a dealer in washington PA. The dealer is a good one and I know they have 3 prius one silver and two blue. There number is 1-800-290-2649 and ask for Lou Pogoreltz he is nice, treated my wife and kids great. He deals at MSRP, he is older I would say 60 ish. The dealership takes all new buyers to dinner and the 3 Prius techs will be there and I guess they like to talk with the prius owners. A friend of mine deals at Andredies and he just got on the list for CH, he bought his first hybrid from Andredies and likes them. There number is 1-800-237-9051 and they had 2 prius when I called. I wish everyone luck getting a prius they are great. Also called two dealers in Akron Ohio and they had prius too. THe one dealer in Wheeling WV had 3 prius but I don't recomend them, thats were we got our first prius.

    Nate speaketh with forked tongue.

Yes, the Lexus (and HH) is included in the 60K, and Toyota isn't pulling them back (no need to!), so I doubt the tax credit part of it is rigged.

What I do believe is that Toyota royally outsmarted themselves on this one. Even if they are somewhat "victimized" by one or two suppliers who can't keep up, their planning process should have anticipated this. I think they're just temporarily in over their cute little heads.

Wow! I bought from the wrong place then. I think I would enjoy talking with the Prius techs more than the free dinner! (Pick some brains :p )

What package and colors did you want. Possibly I can assit you. We have several. I moved here from Wayne several years ago so I'm familiar with where you're located.

Yes, I paid my deposit in November at Hanlee's, too. When I called my salesman last weekend, he said there was a disruption in allocations because they were changing ports, which I find odd as I've heard nothing of that anywhere else. The memo Rickey posted saying essentially the delays were due to parts diverted for hybrid Camry production sounds a lot more likely to me.

As for the model year, the 2006 Prius has only been out 2 months. A 2 month delay now still leaves us in the first half of the year, unless they significantly step up the release date of the 2007s. Anyway, I'm not too worried about that with regard to resale value--my current Honda Civic is over 13 years old, and I'll likely keep my Prius a long time, so I'm not factoring much into resale value anyway. But I'd still like to get the car sooner rather than later!

Darrell. Looks like Jack may be dropping out of the club before our first meeting! I was given the same story about changing ports, which is a bit curious as I've heard nothing of the sort from anyone else. Makes ya wonder....
