    Yeah the Gen 4 Prius has the same terrible backup camera resolution. The one on my 2010 Prius 3rd generation looked way better.

    Is this the 1.8 litre or 2.0 litre HSD?

    1.8 HSD, the 2.0 didn't fit in the lease budget. It could have been possible but then in a much lower trim level.
    I wanted what they call "Executive" here and that comes with considerable better seats and since I drive a lot (about 50k km/year) I want the best seats available in the budget.

    Now I have to start learning on how to effectively use the HSD system.
    I have no clue on what the best way to accelerate is, 3/4 throttle until the desired speed is reached or accelerate more slowly to the desired speed.

    I'm excited to discover how everything works, I already devoured all video's by professor John Kelly of Weber State University on the internals of the HSD system.

    If Toyota is using the same software as in my Camry, you don't have to shift to S to use the paddle shifters. You just have to trigger them in D, but the car won't stay in that gear like when in S. At a stop, it will go back to D, and I've seen it switch back to D after cruising a period of time.

    Read the manual. These automatic transmissions with manual like abilities work differently between makes and maybe models.

    Do you have something like the Hybrid System Indicator in your Heads Up Display? I found that really good for the first couple of weeks to moderate the accelerator pedal:

    Yes, I try to keep it in the ECO range and within the city I try to keep it in the ECO/EV range to maximize EV mode.
    I have found that putting the car in ECO mode helps as well as it delays the throttle response. Out of town I put it in normal mode.

    I would try a tank with ECO, then another in Normal. Drive the same style in each, and I'd suspect there'd be no appreciable difference.

    It might just be specific to 3rd gen Prius, but I found ECO required maddeningly long pedal travel, to get a reaction. If anything it was harder to modulate: it's sometimes easier to control a small motion than an excessively long one.

    I used ECO for about the first 6 months of ownership, switched to Normal on a vacation, never went back.

    Ahh ok. I was hoping to find a member with the 2.0 litre system and ask how it performs. We only have the 1.8 litre system here in North America.

    I presume you've read up on the Pulse & Glide technique for city driving? On the highway, there is a "Super Highway Mode" but that requires more experimentation since it's dependent on the car and also EV mode is possible at higher speeds (110km/h) compared to 70km/h in the Gen 3 so SHM may not be as useful. However, I have noted that (at least with my Prius PHV), I am able to maintain over 60mph within the Hybrid Eco Area (so that's the first half of the Eco area). On the Gen 3 Prius, I would be well into the top half of the Eco Area (I could only maintain 40-50mph within the Hybrid Eco area). This is probably related to the stronger/more powerful electric motors.

    It's much better for Gen 4/Prime. I haven't driven the Corolla Hybrid but I suspect the setup is similar. The electric motors feel more powerful (even though Toyota said the net system power is the same). I feel like they can draw on the battery more often and it feels much peppier. Normal mode feels like PWR mode on the Gen 3. I'm driving exclusively in Eco mode in my Prime and I've gotten used to it.

    The drivetrain in the Corolla 1.8 is the same as in the Gen4 Prius and C-HR (the P610 transaxle).

    Yeah I've heard that a few times. Guess they figured they went too far with gen 3, shifted the pedal travel spectrum since.
