For the trip A reset, I'd suggest to use your odometer, for calc of mileage. Bulletproof!

The other good thing is that if you continue to reset the trip odometer when you fill up, you can always backtrack to the odometer reading if you forget to note it at the time. I've done that more than once.

It is my "opinion" that "included" Toyota Care was done for at least 3 reasons. 1. To increase sales of new cars. 2. Give the individually owned Dealerships the opportunity to up sell services. 3. Keep folks from screwing up their vehicles, thus preventing bad press.

If they can not or will not follow your simplest instruction regarding tire pressure (within sidewall limits) tell them politely they lost your business. My Dealership has no problem doing exactly what I require of them...that is when I do use them.

Prior to giving the detailed list to the service writer, I taped a big note with the same list on the dash. Better safe than have to go back. I just checked my pressures for my requested 42/40. They were a half pound high*. There gauge must be off. ;)

*car has been sitting for many hours, but I will set them to 42/40 after sitting all night in the garage. That is my base line reading time.

Some dealerships have no problem with this. My dealership called it out on their shop list of things that can be customized. When I checked the box to disable only the backup beep, they even verbally confirmed to make sure I hadn't accidentally left the seatbelt beeper box unchecked.

Interestingly, the next morning, after dropping the dealer set pressures by about half a lb to get an even 42/40 after my 5 k service, the TPMS warning light came on. I was told they did not reset the TPMS ( which should not cause this anyway). Since our cars do not report 'which' tire is low, I did not think that swapping tires front to rear would cause a TPMS warning light. Maybe so?

You are correct, it should not make a difference.
