    There are two main reasons:
    1) Europe is a small market for Toyota car sales compared to Japan or North America
    2) Prius car sales in Europe are only about 11% of all Toyota and Lexus Hybrid cars sold.

Toyota sells 8 times more Yaris and Auris Hybrid cars than Prii in Europe.

From the sales numbers alone Europe is only a small market, only about 11% of total annual car sales world wide (Source: Toyota presentation "FY2015 Financial Results" on page 5 at http://www.toyota-global.com/investors/financial_result/2015/pdf/q4/presentation.pdf)
The total sales of Toyota cars in Europe is about 859,000 cars, sales in North America is about 2,715,000 cars and in Japan about 2,154,000.

Sales numbers "total year-to-date sales in 2015" (published
by Toyota at 13 Oct 2015 on http://newsroom.toyota.eu/newsrelease.do?&id=4704):

    Toyota (Europe):
    Total Sales 613,821

Yaris Hybrid 52,893 - produced in Europe
Auris Hybrid 55,466 - produced in Europe
Sum (other Toyota Hybrids): 108,359 (17.7 % of total Toyota cars sold in Europe)

    Prius 6,135
    Prius+ (Prius V) 6,164
    Prius Plug-in Hybrid 673
Sum (Prius Family): 12,972 (2.1 % of total Toyota cars sold in Europe, 11% of all Toyota and Lexus Hybrid cars combined)

    Lexus (Europe)
    Total Sales 47,977
    Hybrid Sales: 23,225 (48.4 % of total)

    Best regards,

it seems like more aggressive pricing might slowly change that, but the are reluctant. more like, well if we can't sell that many, we'll have to make more on them.

More aggressive pricing of Prius in Europe will probably degrade Auris HSD sales to a certain degree.
Also, remember Imported cars (Prius) punished with 10% import tax in Europe.

It's possible as well as exchange rate. Canada has a 6.1% import duty on vehicles not made in Canada, US or Mexico (NAFTA agreement I believe).

I wonder if Toyota will even sell the Gen 2 PiP if the Gen 4 Excel is already more than the competition (Granted, the Golf GTE is a different size class)

thats not great fuel consumption.. what does Auris HSD get there?

Auris is Golf competitor and built in Europe, it is very well priced.

UK pricing being more expensive than GTE is not even true at all. GTE with similar equipment is 40k GBP vs 27k for Prius ... i assume it gets huge taxback from government, but actual price difference is $20k before taxback.

Prius is even priced fine vs Auris in uk... it is 2.5k gbp more but much better equipped at high end and also a larger vehicle.

I suspect that's just an aftermarket rim, not sure. might be the same one you see in this picture:

    Capture.JPG

There's an under-the-hood picture in that set, wonder if it's the new Prius? One of the tags on this pic is "auris", maybe another car?

I wouldnt be surprised if Europe gets some different wheels... TMME often uses different wheels to spice up boring Toyota JP wheel designs. Those look like Toyota factory wheels btw but they could also be accessories. In any case, it is very typical Toyota Europe wheel design.

they remind me of Lexus IS-F wheels...

If Toyota really makes a stupid mistake by not offering the sun roof in Europe, they will loose potential customers !
What the hell are they thinking ?
They have a sun roof,it was seen in Las Vegas and Tokyo,so why wouldn't they want to offer it in Europe ?
I love my solar sun roof in my gen. 3 Prius !
I knew they wouldn't offer a solar roof with the gen. 4 because it would take to much headroom away in the back, but not offering a sun roof at all, although it will be available I other parts of the world is daft !

did Toyota Germany announce anything about prices like UK? UK usually does their own thing.

All these distributors can create their own packages, based on what Toyota factories offer them. So dont be suprised if there are sun roof options in some countries, but I am not sure since I didnt see any other distributor show their options/packages/prices yet.

There wasn't one to be seen at the Frankfurt Motor Show either .

if people who pre-ordered didnt get an option for sunroof, then there wont be one... unless pre-order meant that they get to pick from first cars coming? Did they get full spec sheet for those pre-order cars?

Well to be honest no one really cared to ask about a sun roof, but I guess even so the sales manager would have mentioned it .
They didn't get full technical specs but they did get a full list of how the cars are equipped !
The Top trim level Executive f.e. has everything the new Prius has to offer exept a sun roof and will cost 32150 Euros .
Maybe it's to early to say if even dealers have full information .
One of the dealers said the new Prius has 150 hp,but now I have seen the image of the press event saying 121 I doubt that a bit .
I know for sure that a sun roof option isn't available in the UK and the fact it wasn't shown at the IAA doesn't make me very optimistic it will be available in Europe and in my case Germany which would be a stupid and absolutely no sense making decision by Toyota !
