yep, they set the bar too high, cut their own throats. it's slowly catching up to them in sales losses as other mfgs rise to the top of the quality list

If I bought a new car it would be a American made one.
And this is the last toyota I'll ever have unless I can find a older one with low miles.......and not a prius.

Do beware their numerous models that are either not made in the USA, or have surprisingly little American content.

I'm the other way. I'll only buy Toyotas. In fact I just purchased a 2021 Sienna Hybrid.

Tim will running back to Toyota after a few GM cars. Does GM make cars anymore? Both Ford & GM make good Trucks and truck based SUVs. Car based SUVs, the numbers don't look great especially on the used market unless you are looking at lower priced than equivalent Toyotas and Hondas.

Other than the 2012 V's brake booster assembly being replaced for free it's been great. If the other items go at 150,000 miles, I'll have gotten my money out of it. I bought it used at 89,000 miles.

Go ahead and check out GM and Ford, hopefully you will be problem free for the miles you will drive them to. Odds are you won't. Unless of course you get a truck or truck based SUV.

My last GM product was a 2016 Camaro SS which had transmission problems stating at 17,000 miles. No more GM for me.

Do let us know how it goes.

Do you speak Japanese. Maybe you better move to Japan and feel more at home. Or are you a toyota used care salesman?
I'll never purchase a New Foreign Car..............
I drive toyotas because I got them cheap.

Wow! Touch a nerve did I? LOL!

No just a fan of long term reliability. I am enjoying my Indiana built 2021 Sienna.

You should do a little research on which companies are building in the US vs building new plants in Mexico (Ford, GM...cough cough).

I was living in Alabama when Toyota & Mazda built a brand new plant in Huntsville, Toyota is expanding their plants here. GM..Ford???

    Appears so..

'Slap in the face' UAW says of GM's move to build EVs in Mexico

GM to invest $1B to build EV in Mexico, UAW calls it 'a slap in the face'
General Motors has picked a fifth plant to build its 2023 electric vehicles and it is in Mexico, which the UAW calls "a slap in the face."

GM has already declared it will make EVs at four locations in the United States and Canada.

But on Thursday, GM said it will invest more than $1 billion at its manufacturing complex in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, Mexico, for a new paint shop and innovative technology that will start operations in June 2021.

Ford plans to move new project from Avon Lake to Mexico | wkyc.com.

The United Auto Workers union has informed workers at the Avon Lake Ford plant that it plans to move a major project slated for 2023 from Northeast Ohio to its plant in Mexico.

The letter, dated Friday, March 12, stated that Ford is going back on its agreement to build a "next-generation vehicle" at the Avon Lake plant in 2023.

There are plenty of Toyotas and Hondas made in America with more American content than plenty of GM and Ford models. No Japanese language skill necessary.

For several recent years, the car with highest American-Made Index was the Toyota Camry:

You could even aim for Made In Texas, and still have Toyota sharing the top of the list.

If he had meant American-HQ'ed companies, instead of American made, I believe that he would have said so.

Have you drove a newer mustang or camaro? Or a Tesla? I have driven or rode in all three....and they are excellent.
Even the dodge challengers and chargers are great fun cars.
It's embarrassing when in a prius and a real car is next to me.

Mod note: Removed derogatory and racist comment.

Why would you compare a Prius to a Camaro or Mustang? How would you feel next to a Toyota Supra, Civic Type R, or Nissan GTR?

Being an American Born Chinese (and 1/2 Filipino), growing up I considered myself American. Must I have a '10 Cadillac CTS-V and '85 Sedan de Ville to prove it? (Yes we do have them btw, but a majority more are non-American, ie. our '12 E63 wagon).

Currently waiting for an American Model Y and Cybertruck to potentially replace our Porsche Panamera and Honda Clarity PHEV. (Someone's not wanting to sell to us for some reason. Hint, hint, TSLA).

American car companies are not much different from the rest of the world's. Take Elio, when are all those deposit holders going to get their cars? Since smart closed shop in the USA they have a great opportunity to fill that niche market, yet all I hear are crickets.

The market is going to buy vehicles based on the American freedom of choice. And usually that choice is going to go towards products we feel deserve our hard earned $. If the American car companies can't make products that compete on the global scale, then it's money that they will lose, per great old American Capitalism.

BTW- We visited Japan summer of '19. IF I were still single I would LOVE to move to Japan. Hahahaha, the women are beautiful, and most note themselves single. Being a working female doesn't mix well where men are supposed to provide for the family. (How come that sounds like old America)? Driving there, at least in Tokyo, is a luxury. During our 5 days I believe we racked up $200+ dollars in tolls, driving to Tokyo and back. That's including 1 day we took the bullet train instead. My wife was traumatized by the pervasive chimes of the automatic toll card machine speaking the amount in Yen as we passed toll points...

    moto g(7) power ?
