A large taxi operator here in Winnipeg - Duffy's - has a fleet of 5 prowling Winnipeg. There was a writeup this summer in the Winnipeg Free Press about how Duffy's expects to ROI in 3 years.

That's the fuel savings - in city driving - over a Ford Crown Vic Police Interceptor.

I assume that the ROI is also taking into account the other maintainence bonuses like few oil changes and brake pad replacements. Was it just based on gasoline consumption?

Sorry I can't recall. You would think other maintenance issues would factor heavily too. Especially given the price of a rebuilt Ford automatic overdrive transmission. Apparently they don't last very long in city driving.

My last business trip the ride from the airport to my condo that Ford taxi shifted like a bloody garbage truck. Nothing wrong with an Allison automatic shifting that way in a HD truck, but it was a CAR.

    Vrooom .... JERK ... vroooom ... JERRRRKKKKKK .... vrooommm .... JERK

i thought it was me but maybe not. had the chance to drive with my sister who has a Ford Taurus auto and driving down the road, i realized that the shifting of the car now felt extreme and abrupt. guess that HSD has spoiled me

I hear you, not only that when I drove my Explorer I discovered that no matter how hard you press on the break the ICE does not turn off at a stop light. What is that!!! This happens even when the car is clearly warmed up. What ever!
