inventor00, I'll tell you ONE thing ... odds are it'll be west coast, but folks will be up VERY early on the 22nd anyway. If THAT's not enough of a nail biter, consider how many fingers there will be continually hitting "refresh" on the Toyota web page. Can you spell, C-R-A-S-H ?? Consider how quickly the Leaf list closed down, when Nissan hit the 20,000 'wait-list' number. From history with things like this, I'm predicting 'crazy'.

I'm so sad that Colorado is not in the first group of States. I'll register anyway.

Range anxiety is real on a true EV like the Leaf. When you have 85 miles and that is it, and a lack (in some areas) of charging stations 70 mile trips can get scary.

On a plug in hybrid, there is no range anxiety, you simply go to a nearby gas station and fill up.

Just to clarify, there is no advantage to being the first to register on Apr 22. Anyone who registers will have the opportunity to place an order later this year, prior to non-registrants. The orders themselves will, however, be generally based on a FIFO system, so you'll need quick fingers at that point :)

Hmmm, the coasts again. Us midwesterners are stuck with the pick up trucks I guess.

Count me in for a plug in. Never wanted to do a conversion, and having had a test phv prius for a week, it fits my driving habits perfectly.

Now to hope before the actual ordering process, we don't find out the battery has been made smaller, or something crazy like that.

Count me in also! Just sent it out to the Orange County Prius Club also and I think quite a few may order....especially after seeing it in person a few weeks ago at our meeting (thanks Doug!).

So would I have to give up my beloved PCS/dynamic radar and LED headlights if I get the plug in?

    Doug:

    Thanks for the info.

So, is there any value in registering if you are not located in one of the first 15 States?

Package information has not been released yet, so an answer is unfortunstely unknown. Specific details still have not been anounced yet as well. While the production car may be identical to the demo phv's running around, we cannot assume that things will stay the same.

Yes, you can still buy the car, but you will have to take delivery from a dealer within one of the 15 launch states.

The site is live all, I just registered for my plug in. Can't wait for official details and to actually make the real order.

I do understand the desire to buy this car even if the person is not in a designated roll-out market, but one should keep in mind that the car will be unsupported by Toyota locally. The owner really will be on their own with any problems, at least until the roll-out reaches them.

Know what you are getting into.

11 years ago, I registered the same way... for that very first Prius available here. 3 years later, I was waiting for delivery of the next. 5.5 years later, waiting again. Just moments ago, the wait officially began yet again. And since I live in the Midwest, looks like delivery will include a road trip.

It's been an exciting journey, totally worth the wait!

Not true! Dealers across the country will be capable of servicing the vehicle around the time of first deliveries. You should check with your dealer of choice to confirm later in the year.

Then I stand corrected, Doug. Although your escape hatch is noted :)
My earlier comment should be amended to say support is ymmv.

OK, I know it's just the lawyer-mandated boilerplate, but about the only option I see on that graphic is *maybe* the fog lights. ;)
