Total Accumulated MPG?

    The simple/easy/accurate way to track to track your total mpg: save and record all the gas receipts. All the gas put in, divided into the miles driven (the odometer), that's your total mpg.

    Didn't start that eight-o'clock-day-one? Never to late: for every fillup, note the gas added and the odometer reading, that's all you need to sort out the calculation. Work it in a spreadsheet and you calculate individual tanks and overall.

    My mpg-meter is inaccurate; it's about 6% too optimistic. I think this is a common problem, not endemic to my car.

    I record every fuel-up on fuelly.com, so the mpg figures are based on the actual miles driven between two visits to the gas station and the actual gallons pumped.

    To get a number that is anywhere near to accurate, you need to do that over SEVERAL tankfuls........to smooth out any inaccuracies caused by things like pump nozzles that shut off at different points......and potentially human errors too.

    A lot more than several tankfuls, to get a proper mean. Also drives should involve up hills and downhills during different tank fills.

    That is going to be tricky for me, I can drive 154 miles one way and only gain 90 feet. The 90 feet coming back won't really be 'downhill' in any real sense.

    It is not a "mean", it is a long term total......that is then averaged.

    And while I like your suggestion, the fuel should "slosh" around enough in normal driving to eliminate any possible air pockets in the tank.

    Yes the Prius "c" actually was discontinued in the USA after 2019
    also the "v" was too.

    Why? Well I totally adore my "c"
    I waited in line to buy my 2012 when it came out.
    For reasons not needed to post, I then traded it in for my current 2014

    When I or we go somewhere with multiple kids, we opt for the Gen 3 liftback.
    More comfort, more safety.
    When I just have one passenger or I am solo taking my SUPER LONG COMMUTE of 3 miles,
    I use my "c"

    The USA loves BIG, which the "c" is not.
    Along with the misconception of a Toyota Hybrid being over their head :)LOL:)
    Coupled with quite a few econo cars for cheaper than the ~$22k price tag of the "c"

    Keep in mind, the "c" stands for city (not highway, or coalrolling lol)

    NOW in Japan, they not only still manufacture and sell the "c"
    But it is the second BEST SELLING vehicle.
    What is the first you may think?
    The Prius liftback of course.
