65.3 to be exact...via our formula anyway

Nothing to do with good and bad. Some people just have commutes/schedules that allow them to be at a much higher EV%.

My drive is 17, 18 miles to work one way. Can only charge at home but not at work, if I could charge at work; will be quite a bit better. I drove last weekend around Los Angeles area local and highway for 120 miles and average 60mpg or so, not bad with only a full charge at home.

Hope this one gets me in the list (don't think it will based on my calc). This was on the same tank of gas.[IMG]

Sorry Ollie, not quite. Got you 77.2 MPGe which would be the equivalent of 25th.

Also Ollie, it seems you are not using the fuel sources to their best usage. You have a really low MPGe for EV only. Tell us about your usual commute/route and we can probably help you get better fuel economy out of both fuels.

At the time of this I was doing a 14.4 mile commute, about 10 miles of which being freeway driving between 50-65mph. So most of these HV miles are with EV assistance, or whatever it is called.

14.4 total or each way? And do you have the availability to charge at work?

Obviously your first need is to use all your EV miles before you get back home. Secondary to that is the need to use HV at highway speeds and EV at lower speeds. This is ideal but can't be done in all situations. Sounds like yours may be one of those situations.

It's 14.4 each way and I do charge at work. I always use all of my EV by the time I arrive. I can't help but drive a large portion of my commute at around 60mph in EV mode.

How was your EV% not higher if you can charge at work as well?

Do you have alternate routes you could take that are similar in distance but may be slower? (although some people aren't willing to sacrifice a little more time for much better efficiency)

I think he was in the EV-BOOST / blended mode. So the miles weren't counted as EV miles.

His HV portion is unusually high at 66 MPG.

A suggestion is to pay a little note attention to EV icon so he knows when the ICE would shut down and ride it out as far as he can.

77.2 composite MPGe is still very good. Better than other PHEVs on the market.

Fuel ratio is one thing but if you look at the breakdown, the efficiencies are very good.

You got 119 MPGe on electric miles and 56 MPG on gas miles.

I do a lot of blended mode as I cannot avoid going faster than 62mph at a couple of points on my commute. I try to fight it as long as I can, but most times I have to kick on the engine.

Any slower routes that would keep you off the highway, but would be similar mileage?

I realize this goes against most people's instinct. But if you had a few minutes to spare you might be able to achieve MUCH better efficiencies.

Just wondering, how do you get those 2 numbers? 119MPGe and 56MPG.

I run my Prius in mostly "Power" mode btw.

You went 371 EV miles with 89 kWh of electricity.

If we add 15% for charging loss (89/0.85), you used 104.7 kWh from the wall.

Since 33.7 kWh is equivalent to a gallon, this is 3.11 gallons (104.7/33.7).

    371 miles / 3.11 gallons is 119 MPGe.

Gas is easier. 974 HV miles / 17.5 gallons is 56 MPG. We add 0.5 gallon because Prius displays in integer without rounding. 17.9 would display as 17.

My numbers are going up every day but I think I am going to start a new segment. So, here it is. There were a few larger trips in here. I should get about 1600 miles on this tank.

Got to love this car. This trip was almost all highway going 65-70 with some slow town driving and still 65mpg.

just hit 15mos - 3rd fill-up today! - was actually forced to do this due to the 6mo old gas rule...
4756 mi / 9.003 gallons = 528 mpg so I guess worst tank yet MPG wise due to NE winter

Working on a new top 20 MPGe but it's clear to me that I won't be topping my or Retired4999's previous entries.
around 160MPGe with maybe 3 weeks to go

Wish I did not have all my 250 - 450 mile trips, then I could give you a run for your money!:)

I wish I can charge at work... My MPG will be much better...

Anyone knows any kind of charging device I can charge at home, bring along with me to work and charge my battery when it is depleted?
