In the United States you can not void a warranty! You can only deny a repair of a particular item if you can prove that what the owner did to a warranted vehicle damaged that particular item.

So, if they claim the EV damaged the battery and they deny the warranty you could sue them. In California I can sue them in small claims for up to $5,000 damages for around $22. No lawyers are allowed in court. They would have to send a CFO at minimum to court and show a judge that you had EV, used EV and that EV damaged the battery. Federal law requires a burden of proof on the denier of the warranty repair. Then of course if you’re using Toyota's own switch, and show they use it in other countries, the judge is not likely to believe that it caused damage. If it would, why use it in other countries? Are they even going to show up in a small claims court? Not likely. They then will lose and have a judgment against them which you can collect on. Now talk about bad publicity.

Indeed, they will probably try to do so where possible. See the quote above in Brent's post, which suggests such things as "vehicle abuse", "off-road driving", "overloading" and "improper maintenance" as other reasons warranty coverage might be denied.

I hope the mac mini interface could work with a PC simply by having the appropriate driver SW.

How come you need the Mac Mini to work with a PC? It may need to work with PC software though, as I don't believe my mapping software comes in a Mac version.

Not the Mac Mini, the interface FOR the Mac Mini. Often all HW needs to work in a different platform is appropriate driver.

I'm not overly familiar with Mac technology, but Mac and PC's have different architectures that make internal hardware either Mac or PC. External hardware may work either way if using either USB or FireWire and even SCSI with the appropriate drivers.

Now as for software, it is written for either Mac or PC but will not run on both without a complete rewrite of the code. The exception to this are emulators. The Mac lovers really love to point out that they have software that can emulate a PC and run PC programs - as long as they are not too graphic oriented. PC lovers don't care that they can emulate and don't need to emulate because 98% of the software written is made for PC's and those that are made for MAC's eventually get made for PC's.

For a car computer, you would have to look at the purpose of the computer and most importantly, the software you want to run. The primary software I want to run are Delorme SA mapping software which is very graphic intense. If the MAC could emulate it, it would not be very good. The other software is for the cars diagnostic software. Does that come in a Mac version? Probably not.

"most hardware will work with either Mac or PC, its the software you have to match"

So when I take the AGP display card out of my PC and put it in a Mac's AGP slot it only needs drivers? So its not affected by the CPU, MB/Chip sets, Bios, RAM settings of the Mac? Then ATI should save some money and package just one product with multiple drivers.

I know HD's will. But I know my video capture will not.

    Do Mac's have PCI slots?

Next thing you know :guns: Microsoft will slap Windows on there and it will be a PC :pukeright: :pukeleft:

yes the card will work as long as the Mac has an AGP slot. the only thing that cant be swapped easily is RAM and CPU's. but being a Mac or PC doesnt matter as both nowadays have to be matched up with a compatible Motherboard.

I ordered the stock EV button and wire harness (no wires just the connector) JapanParts on April 6th and I received it on April 11th. Only 5 days from Japan. Cant beat that. I didn't even have time to get the rest of the stuff I need first.

Just to clarify for those that are not Mac literate. The Mini has no slots. It is just 6 1/2" square and 2" high. It has most of the interfaces that you will need. The Mac OS X (ten) is a UNIX based OS. You can run the Mac OS on a emulator, don't know the name, I have no need. Virtual PC will run many Windoz programs on a Mac via emulation but not all, at least not well. The 800 dollar price is for a fully loaded system. Bluetooth, Airport (WiFi), DVD-R drive etc. Does not include monitor, keyboard and mouse. I am going to get one to add to my home entertainment system to be used as a audio jukebox and TIVO. I will add one to my car when the interface is worked out. DVD player, iTunes for a audio jukebox as good as an iPod, who knows with a cell phone serf the net? The form factor is "insanely great". And yes I am totally under Steve's reality distortion field at all times.

I also ordered the ev mod from costal tech (on 3/26). No response from costal so I followed-up with email asking for status. I received a quick email response that the ev mod was on backorder and would be shipped when available.

EV is available in both Australia and the UK. They describe 100km/gal in Australia portion of the Prius.com website. They brag about 65.8mpg in the UK portion. I'd like to see a copy of the owner's manual for either of these countries, and see when manual EV is recommended.

EV and the flaps are on order, with probably more comfort tweaking later. Caught a couple of young ladies rubbernecking to get a better look yesterday.
