Does the manual also say that the goo won't work in all situations ?
I put a compact spare in my C.......even though it almost never leaves the city.

Two flats was just bad luck. It can happen with any type of tire or trip, even short ones.

Hey, I've really been thinking about replacing my Dunlop's with Michelin's also. How much better is road noise if any?

They are a bit quieter, but I only drove the Dunlop's about 200 miles. Lots of tires get louder as they get older.

The Grand Touring are not particularly LRR tires or tires that last forever. I chose them for driving performance in all conditions (best in class all season tires). I think I am only seeing a loss of about 1 to 2 miles of EV mode but not enough time on the Dunlop's for a good comparison. I only know that I am way happier with how the car drives with the Michelin's.

I don't think any tire can stop a nail from penetrating. I like the Dunlop tires on my car. They are quiet, handle well, and are well balanced. Of course I live in California where I don't have to deal with snow and ice. Wet road traction is fine.

With our 2010 Prius, we had two flats, same tire, ON THE PATCH REPAIR.

So using the revs/mile and earlier metrics, I replaced both front tires with ones that corrected the odometer/MPH/trip meter errors. They also have a maximum 51 psi which is what I run them at. NEVER LOOKED BACK!

if you pack a spare tire in a prime, there's no room for spare underwear on a long trip.

If carrying a spare on a long trip, it should be a full size tire not a donut. Space saver tires have limited speed, and will wear out quickly. So you would probably wind up having to buy a full size wheel and tire anyway to complete the trip, at a likely higher cost than you might be able to purchase one at home when you have time to shop for the best price or find a used one. Also a donut will affect handling, braking, stability control and traction control, one reason for the lower speed.

Unfortunately a full size tire will take up much of the limited cargo space in the Prime, that would be the trade-off. It may not leave enough room for large size roller suitcases, so might need to get creative with the luggage, like using duffel bags, as well as splitting things up into smaller bags that can be squeezed into various corners of the luggage compartment.

Although if I can't fit my 12V Igloo cooler then forget it, I'll just take my chances.

I think that is still the case.

There hitch mounts for carrying a spare.

Seems like that would block the backup camera. But then again if you have a spare tire hitch installed you can back up into anything you want!

When we can finally buy a receiver hitch, it can carry either my wife's wheel chair carrier and/or a spare tire and jack.

A local metal shop might be able to combine the two.

Not sure it would be productive combining a wheel chair carrier and a spare tire, I mean it would probably thump a lot when you are driving with it on the car :D

    Sorry couldn't resist.

I am of the opinion that I have AAA and the service plan from Toyota for a reason. If something goes wrong they get a call and I wait for them to come deal with it. I don't intend to try to squeeze a spare into a car not designed to hold a spare. That said, in my 30 years of driving I have had 1 flat tire and it was from a board with nails in it on the highway and it took me 2 miles before the tire really went flat. I wouldn't have driven that far but unfortunately there was no breakdown lane at the time as in MA they often open the breakdown lane for travel during rush hour. This was 20 years ago. Maybe I have been lucky and I am now pushing it. But it seems a lot of you get flats far more often then I have heard others around me talk about. Be nice to your tires :D.

Sorry to hear that. I had a flat before first service but was able to make it to the Toyota Dealer to get it fixed without using the Goop. On another car I had a flat and used the goop. I ended up having to replace the tire and the TPMS sensor. I should have called AAA and had the car towed. We no longer use AAA but would avoid the Goop if at all possible.
