I think you'll like the review by this guy; it's probably the best one I've seen yet for the 2017 Prime.

Uncle Bob, you're being charitable! I thought it was "new", since it had just appeared on my Google Search display, although I did see the August 2017 article date! Oh well... (a deep subject!). He's the only "tester" to mention the quick acceleration of the Prime thanks to the EV mode. The article stated that he did have access to the Prime for quite some time, and was able learn the car's performance and features.

Someone else started a new thread on that same "article", with a pop-up allowing you to read the full thing:

Review by Wall Street Journal | PriusChat

It's astoundingly coloured and flippant, doesn't seem like the norm for the Wall Street Journal.

Addendum, if you go to the above link, click on the first post link, and click the upper corner of the pop-up, there's an option to read the original article, unlocked.

^ They got the MPGe wrong, stating it was 124 instead of the 133. Also poorly written, as most web articles are, these days. Happy that it was a positive review, following that Wall Street piece of crap review.

    This is what irritates me:

    . . .
Inside the cabin the differences show that Toyota no longer wants the Prius to be a statement of the environmentally concerned. They want it to appeal to mainstream drivers who simply want the fuel efficiency, no matter what the reason. But more importantly they want the features and touches available on most any other car. So that’s what Toyota’s giving them.
    . . .

Our sedan style, 2003 Prius was a look-a-like to a Ford Focus ... no statement there. Our 'statement' was at the gas pump getting 52 MPG and no one beyond the Prius community and family knew.

Found this: Review: Toyota’s new Prius Prime needs more battery | Ars Technica

It began as a meager, nondescript little appliance and grew into nothing less than a rolling business card that explained a corporate philosophy. The Toyota Prius hybrid explains what Toyota thinks of itself, the car business, and society far better than most carmakers' products over the past decade. And the Prius has been an enormous hit, legitimately becoming that overused term in marketing: a brand.
    . . .

Attitude aside, the facts and data work for me. They tried to use the Volt to compare and contrast only the Prime efficiency kicked that to the curb.

I wonder if Toyota will try and make a one-size-fits-all battery to go with the TNGA chassis.

i.e. try and find a size that fits both a Camry and RAV4 so spread the cost over more vehicles, instead of having to make multiple battery sizes (or at least have it modular to be able to size up or down).

The "Rumblestrip.NET Published on Jan 29, 2018" gave it a grudging OK. In effect, not for us but some can use it. A fair review even if it appears they never really plugged it in.
