Add the two sizes (front + rear) together...

Prius C = 76.7

Prius 2016 = 76.6

 

Yes, its a typo wanted to write 80-120...will correct it.

 

I believe these messurments are only reliable if they are taken with the same battery charge and under the same road conditions !

Are you trying to say the new Prius has less interior space then the Prius C and Danny ore Tideland or any other person who saw the car in real life didn't even bother to mention it ?

 

i never realized the c was only 2-3" shorter in the cabin.

 

I suspect the numbers don't reflect actual in-person observations, which is common when it comes to on-paper comparisons.

 

It is actually only 1" shorter in the back and 0.8" in front. The better dash layout with more knee space makes front feel more spacious than Gen3. Headroom almost identical, but the shoulder room is 2.6"/1.4" F/R less.

So yes, when overtaking 80-120kmh, new Prius is substantially faster than CT200h using old powertrain.

Also, Wayne continues to rave about his real life mpg in G4, while he thought G3 was very dissapointing... he will post more numbers these days, he mentioned he managed to get "low hundreds" MPG during city drives... no doubt he is hypermiling but he never got anywhere close to those numbers in G3

 

There may be a shortage of diesels to demo. Switching to the 2016 Prius would be wise but there may be more business opportunities with other vendors. Hyundai claims to have a Prius-equal coming next year and they might want to raise their visibility.

A couple of years ago, I did this driving stunt:

• 1000.8 mi / 91.8 MPG = 10.9 gallons < 11.3 gallon spec tank
• 91.8 * 113.7% = 104.4 MPG which can be read on the new, 150 MPG scale

FYI, I tried to use a Scangauge II to measure 100+ MPGs but found the instrument has a problem. I may buy an Ultragauge to see if it is more credible.

100 MPG? That's nothing, Wayne got over 140 MPG on a slow city circle.

This indicates that low speed city MPG will get a massive boost, while high speed may get only 5-10% boost.

 

thanks for the link neighbor... I only noticed his comment on steady mpg thread, good to actually read it all... getting awesome mpg is pretty great.

He also got huge mpg's during highway, no doubt due to engine being able to cut off at 70mph, something that wasnt possible before plus something that isnt taken into account on his steady speed mpg either.

i suspect when you actually sit down in the back for Prius C vs your G3, there is a lot more room and comfort to be found in G3?

 

Well, considering how the highways are nowadays in Germany with all the roadworks everywhere, sections at 120km/h, traffic beyond belief (stau everywhere) and more and more drivers not keeping to the right lane, I'd say that 180km/h max speed for the Prius is plenty fast.
I don't think one should buy a Prius to drive fast on the Autobahn (though it behaves pretty well) - there are plenty of faster cars out there that do perfectly the job.

The engine of Gen 3 is locked at 5200rpm when flooring the accelerator. Actually when you are flooring to reach top speed you hear the engine go and stay to max rpm and once you reach the top speed the engine goes a tad slower, while still keeping max speed.

 

My experience from my week long visit to Cologne and area is the most of the time you don't go over 40kpg in villages and 70-80 on local roads. And even on autobahn most of the time there are speed limits of some kind. It's not as everybody is driving 200kph as some people might think. It gets hairy at over 120kph and you start losing money real fast out your tail pipe.
