Could just ghost our “eastern” friends messages so only people in their region can see them until a moderator approves their account.

It would prevent the forum from being disrupted and legit users would just have to wait

That is vague, especially if you keep going east, that covers everybody, including you. ;)

Has it been established they're using IP addresses from the APNIC address space?

If they're spoofing IP addresses and using ARIN addresses, that wouldn't work out so well.

Indeed, especially if it is a botnet trying to DDOS the site.

Oh I see what's going on there, user tailored ads are smart, and dumb.

The last botnet post identified as a 22 year old Asian female with some cleavage in her profile image.

It now speaks in awkward off topic American.

Hey, it is better than some "technology SPAM"

I just got an email that promises "Share a live video security camera via SMS".
SMS is a short text-only messaging protocol used on mobile phones.

    1. How are you going the share a physical camera via SMS?o_O
    2. If they meant a camera FEED who can they share any meaningful live video via short text messages?

I saw another new user with a cleavage image that may be legitimate. I reported asking about NSFW images.

There was a lot of malware that would steal banking info via SMS, so I'd be doubly doubtful about that.

I don't like spam, breakfast or not.

looks like they are practicing their craft. pretty good too, i responded to more than a few before realizing what was happening.
they could probably take us down permanently, if that was their goal.

Really? Which forums. Haven't seen them in any Gen 2 forums.

I see what you mean. Don't use that page, as I have more than enough reading just sticking to the Gen 2 forums.

I take it that these have been reported?
