My pet peeve is the inability to retain "gonnna", so I have to spell it with 3 "n's" just to keep the gist of my slang!! I hadn't run into the "g-o-t-t-a" problem til you dun brung it up thar!! Har, har! Posted via the PriusChat mobile app. AChoiredTaste.com
It cluelessly autocorrects URLs and "code" tags too. That breaks URLs, like this one. gotta Meaning in the Cambridge English Dictionary instead of (edit yourself) https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/g-o-t-t-a
Change your correction setting to "suggest corrections" instead of automatic and that problem should go away. gonna ......easy. Edit: HAHAHA.....the forum software has it's own automatic corrections....for some things.
Where do you edit that "autocorrection" setting, oh learned one? I'm going to look on the Samsung phone's settings, since I didn't find any opportunity to change these settings here on the Forum. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app. AChoiredTaste.com
In this case, it won't make any difference......because it is the server end that's doing it and you can't change that. The "normal" spelling correction happens in the browser, in my case Chrome. It might not be present at all on a mobile device.
Yeah, there is no opportunity here in Forum on my Samsung S7 to stop "Full Automatic" editing. I'm going to check what's available in my basic Samsung edit settings... My edit settings on my Samsung Galaxy S7 have "Auto Replace" turned off. There is no "Suggest" mode; is that something Apple? The Forum server must be handling my "gonna's", and changing them to "got to's"... or "going to". P.S. It did it again!! I have to put 3 "n's" or some other variation to keep my "gonnna"! Huh? The first one is br0ken & I added dashes to the second one to bypass autocorrect. @Tideland Prius was the one that fixed the tyre autocorrect a while back. It kept correcting to tire.
Well now I know that I must invoke the power of the Great One, Mr. Tideland Prius, to git 'er dun!! Har, har! So now we can say, "I'm tyred" or I'm retyred??!! Har, har. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app. AChoiredTaste.com
I get it; you do what I do, slightly change the intended word to fool the autocorrect system!! Yeah and they want to extrapolate this (a lot!!) to take us to autonomous cars??!! I can see it now, the guy is autonomously driving to his destination, when the system decides, "let's make a right turn here, off this cliff, it's a shortcut!! Arrgh!! AI (Artificial Intelligence) run amuck! Posted via the PriusChat mobile app. AChoiredTaste.com
Hey, I once had a GPS in the Washington DC area that wanted me to make 3 left turns in the middle of an intersection instead of just turning right. Yes, I just turned right & it figured that out.
I think you will find that GPS service anywhere near Government buildings in DC is going to be spotty. They do that on purpose.
If you banned the country of origin, that might block @tochatihu unless he uses a VPN. I believe he's based in China. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
no VPN use by me, although many foreign scientists here use them. If PriusChat found it necessary to block this country (briefly or permanently), that would silence me. I could email one of those who emails I know to transmit information of my survival. If it is the case that PriusChat is getting hammered by China traffic, they ought to close it off. But one might suspect that hammerers would find other ways to hammer. I am not in a position to evaluate loss of my formidable wit&wisdom here
Well that was kind. But on balance, you'd also be free of occasional snark that leaks out. For a new example, by using "ballistic" in this thread's title, bisco announced to our little world he does not know the meaning of that word. Take that, Boston! When I post errors and fail to correct them, they become (small) permanent reminders of one's human imperfections. I guess that's fair...
We actually don't know where the logins have originated from - could be from any of the continents around the world. China has only been mentioned because some of the text has been in non-english text - I don't know if we are even sure it was Chinese. BUT - previous attacks which happened in past years were entirely English text. Anyone can pick up a piece of text and insert it in a post - I've blocked them all, but the first couple I looked at seemed to have the same block of text.
