I don't really expect any. Big dog doesn't owe me anything and I certainly don't have to be here. I choose to be as long as "I" still get something out of it. I "hope" big dog is still getting something out of this. If not, it will not last and this great knowledge repository will die except for Google cache.
Would it be possible this site is keeping itself going without human intervention, just some programming to correct, albeit belatedly, when it crashes. I just have this "Elvis has left the building" feeling.
You mean it requires regular payments? Maybe they're pre-authorized? I think @bisco speculated about this before.
Tideland mentioned to me about a month ago that Danny was working on upgrading the software for the site, so I suppose it is getting some limited attention from him.
I didn't know that. Would be great if it turns out that way. Besides the great people and the vast knowledge here, the software itself has several feature I like, although there are a few I wish for.
Since the site's last upgrade, there was a lot of tweaks. I've seen a number "ticks" crop up, and I've figured out work-arounds, for most. But maybe some of these tweaks are the cause of the sporadic crashes? Who knows. It seems like CleanMPG is running the same software, sans tweaks AFAIK, with nary a problem. A fraction of the traffic though. Maybe start afresh, reinstall the software out-of-the-box, see what that does? Totally out-of-my-depth btw, but that's never stopped me, lol.
I'm reuploading krmcg's Prius picture, because the message captures what this website just told me to do after it caught me wandering around page to page:
ITYM The Wayback Machine. Cached results in Google tend to change as fast as the spiders crawl. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
My fear is that the more frequent these issues occur, the greater the chance of unrecoverable database corruption that may require rebuilding the site from scratch to correct.
If you mean benagi's, you'll have to tap the small picture with a red X overlaid and that should open a Fuelly link.
