he probably appreciates us letting him know that there is a problem. nice to be up and running again. thanks danny!
Maybe the servers were upgraded to soy-based wires and the mice found out I call it the MICE-is crisis
Very similar happened recently to the web site I manage. I couldn't even log in to fix it. Had to call the hosting company. They found a bad plug-in in the site software and re-named it so it couldn't operate. Then I could get in and remove about the bad plug-in since it was one we didn't use anymore anyway. Whatever this is, it seems even worse this morning.
Indeed. First time I've encountered it "this round". I just don't understand someone (Danny) building up a site that becomes WILDLY popular and then just leaving his users in the lurch. Surely he knows something about this. I think it is EXTREMELY rude not to let his loyal users know what is, or is not, going on with problems like this. And as an aside: Since when is Danny not making any money from this site ?? Someone else mentioned that and I don't think it is true. In the beginning it certainly was not true.
I think there are many users here with IT experience that would be willing to help troubleshoot and improve this valuable site. Unfortunately, the administrative operation is a "black box" as signified by this thread being moved from the Website forum to Fred's House. They do not want to know & be bothered with the issues.
Seems better now, anyway. Hope you got it fixed, Danny. Thanks. And I would say that I think Danny probably does make at least some money since there are ads on the site. How much is anyone's guess. Either way, I doubt if this is his full time job. Maybe a team of retired geeks with time on their hands could help?
As well as in the posts. All I have to do is ask a question about a windshield wiper and suddenly, there's a link in my post.
I would if I could but I have a VERY busy life right now. Wearing two hats at work and a couple at church plus helping our adult son get ready for a double lung transplant sometime in the next few months. Now HE's the kind of geek that could sort this out, since web sites is how he makes his living. But he's far from cheap. And he's soon going to be out of commission for a few months.
I used to have trouble with this site but I updated to macOS Sierra last year and everything works now without errors.
I've been running Sierra since it came out. It's fantastic. But the site has been very buggy for a while although it seems like it's sorted out now, thankfully. The site still works the CPU awfully hard, though.
I mostly use Firefox. It runs about 12-25% on this site most of the time (with an i7, no less). No other site does that. I just now opened it in Safari and closed Firefox. Things calmed down dramatically! Now 3-7%. Can't hear the fans anymore. I wonder what it's doing to Firefox that it doesn't do to Safari. Thanks for the tip.
Maybe Danny should to talk to the CleanMPG guys. They switched over to what looks to be the same interface about a year back, and seem to have left it stock. Never any issues there. To be fair there's nowhere near the same traffic.
...when they are working. I wonder how many users have basically left due to the issues. Seriously, if you feel you have the time & could contribute, perhaps you should PM (Private Message / Start a Conversation with) Danny.
The features that come to mind for me: 1. alerts 2. what's new 3. easy image posting 4. easy editing, quoting, etcetera Are all built-in, CleanMPG is the same. Also, several features here, especially tweaked ones, are a bit buggy. Posting images via a smart phone for example. Still: I'm clueless if it's the tweaks that would be causing problems with PriusChat. More'n likely the vast difference in traffic??
