Edit: Yes, a sad thread. I feel for the OP. I would be extremely upset if my car got damaged like that. Especially if it was vandalism, on purpose.
Just another reason why I keep my gen 2. I really don't have to care about it. This is the saddest thread ever. I feel so bad for you tucatz, but buying the first model year of a new redesign is always a bad idea. I thought Toyota would have reliability correct within the first year. I've had no mechanical problems, but I do have a lot of rattles. You need a dash cam, although it probably wouldn't have caught your Safeway incident on the side of your car. Maybe if you backed into the parking spot. Good luck catching the guy! Maybe the store camera near the entrance by the sliding doors caught your parking spot.
