Bummer, I just talked to Tire Rack and they do not carry any 15x6.0 rims or smaller. There goes my idea to reuse my stock tires on something different than the ugly steel rim that came with the car.

 

I sell rims/tires and my sources say our rims (on our 2011) are 15x6.5 so a 15x7 is no problem with a 195 width tire. there should be no problem running a 195 width tire even on a 7.5 inch rim. A wider than 7.5 inch rim is not advised and a 8 inch would need at least a 205 width tire. The same source states that 7.5 inch width rim is the maximum adviseable. There are a crap load of 15 inch 5x100 rims.

But this is for a C and it has 4x100

 

There are other threads which disuss the rim sizes more thoroughtly. The concensus is that you can use the stock tires on a 6" rim, but anything wider might compromise safety.

I used 2002 ford ZX2 rims which are available refurbished (looks new) for about $110 each. They are 15x5.5, 45 offset and hub (54.1) which matches the Prius C requirements. The TPMS fit fine. Looks good too. The 15" rims from some mini-coopers look like a possibility too.

 

Dang, I feel like an idiot, I did not read the header saying Prius C! Tire Rack does have some 15x6.5 rims that take 175/65/15 tires.

 

Their website does say that but when you get a hold of an actual human there, they say no way to stock tires and a 6.5" rim. They say you have to go to at least a 185/65R15. The max rim width for the stock 175/65R15 is 6"

 

Here's mine, which are Scion OEM 15x6, offset 40. The 6" did accommodate the tires on the existing 5.0 rims fine, and no rubbing noticed so far. Got em off Ebay for $480 for the set.

 

I'm confused, what do you mean by this?

I moved the tires that were mounted on the stock 5" rims over to the new 6" rims.

Other places show no problems using that size on a 6.5 inch rim. I have ordered the rims alone for other cars and bought the tires seperatedly and had other places mount them with no problems.

 

I agree. Take a look at "An ideal rim-width calculator" on this webpage on tires/rims.

Sorry to revive an old thread but when googling RPF 1 prius c this is the first thread that comes up.

I autocross my girlfriend's prius c with my stock 99miatas wheels as the hub bore was identical and the Miata wheels has 195 direzza star spec 2s. They make the c handle like a champ. Putting it into maintaince mode I as able to manhandle it into 5th fastest time of the day beating built cars and was quite impressed. Handling on the street was so much tighter probably due to the steelies and crapy all seasons vs alloys and summers but the Miata tires seamed like a good match.

I'll have a handful of 15x7 +41 rpf1s to try soon and can update if there's interest

 

I just called discount tire direct for a quote on some 15x7 RPF1's and they wanted like $247??? Wha??? I paid $213 a wheel for a set of 4 last year for some 17x9's thru them BEFORE the $160 rebate making them $692 a set in that size. I'll check again in a few weeks, but I just ordered a TRD sway and a camber kit for my C and was tempted to put some sticky rubber on there instead of my high mpg lightweight 15" setup. But the weight penalty for going with 16's (lightest is 13.6lbs per wheel) and the heavier performance tires at 21lbs each make them close to 35lbs per corner. Right now, the 15's with 185/60/15's I can get 14.6 lbs per tire and 11.4 lbs per rim (Konig Helium) making it 26 lbs per corner. That's 9 lbs less and I'd DEFINITELY feel it on the MPG, accel, etc.

I'm unfortunately going to give up some grip for better MPG, but I will say that I have a set of 195/55/15's already on some Heliums (Hankook all seasons) and they handle much better than the OEM 175 Bridgestones (which I also have mounted on Heliums). I round that the lightest tire in the size range for our cars is a Kuhmo Sense 185/60/15 at 14.6 lbs. That is super light. I'm ordering a set most likely next time they're on sale again.

Anyway, I've been spending too much time looking at everything the last few days. Lol. I think I'm pretty much done at this point. There are some mildly lighter rims compared to the Heliums (Advanti S1 Storm @ 10.7lbs) for around $125 but they are never on sale. I've gotten a set of heliums delivered with tires after rebates for less than $350.

Thx for this reply tho because I've auto-x'd before, and I run some RE71R's on the 17x9 RPF1's on my Nissan Leaf with a front camber kit and grip is incredible! I really want to hug the turns in the Prius, but I kinda have an all or nothing mentality. Sticky rubber selection in a 195/55/15 or 205/55/15 is non existent. But I don't want to run a 205/50/15 cause they're too small of diameter and would look stupid without a drop, and I'm not dropping the car either...got a steep driveway.

 

Quick question...would these SSR GT V01's work (and I would assume for the price they are durable) and the sensor, that's not difficult for them to add to these?
