Yes indeed, this is a nice find......i am a new (used) owner of a 2015 PIP and was quite confused as to what trim it was until i saw the link. From the link, it appears that the PIP comes in the two trims, the Plug-in Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid Adv. I have the Plug-in Hybrid as I don't have leather seats or JBL but the sound from the speakers are really really nice. I have the 2010 Prius III with the JBL speakers and i can tell that this comes to par if not better.

Go to the Toyota Owners site and register your VIN. You can also see what dealer service was performed.

You can purchase the Toyota remote starter, part number PT398-47091 (available in the PriusChat Shop, your dealer, or any number of sites), which will allow you to preheat the car. Note that the charger must be disconnected from the vehicle before it will start.

My dealer says this remote start PT398-47091 "replacement number PT398-47110" will not work on my 2012 Prius plugin. Has anyone tried it?

if you have to go out to unplug, can't you just start the car at the same time?

I think the Remote Starter lets you keep the doors locked without needing to resort to the skeleton key.

What's irritating is the Toyota parts web sites that list it as an option, but that is false information according to the dealer's when they check the VIN, maybe my Plug-in Advanced has something that breaks the deal.

Yes, factory remote, just press lock button 3 times. The range, of course, is the range of the factory remote. I preset the heated seats and defrost. Only downfall is, if your plugged in ( I have a PIP), it won't let you remote start.

My estimated range is about 0.2 miles lower than last winter, I'm not sure if other things have affected this though - I've moved to tyres with higher rolling resistance among other things.

many have observed 10-20% over the first few years, then stabilizing. yours probably won't change much now
leaf was a whole nuther beast, but degradation was worse in hot climes

Yes, everyone is going to see some degradation on these batteries even if one claims they have seen none (hint: their driving habits and/or weather has changed without them realizing it). Toyota did a decent job protecting these batteries but the C rates on them is just too substantial to not have some degradation. When you can run a battery full to depleted in about 7 minutes, that is going to create some problems. The vast majority of people don't use them like that, but even charging on a basic L2 has a C rate of about 1 or less.

I've been guessing at around 10 to 15 miles. Looks like I'm close if your 7 minute figure is dead on.

With new construction, your best all-around install is a NEMA 14-50 outlet on a 50-amp breaker using 6-gauge wire.

What @john1701a said. The breaker will probably be a dual 50A breaker, one for each 120V leg. I mounted NEMA 14/50 outlet near the garage door so it can be accessed from outside as well as inside the garage. The charge door will be on the rear passenger side for the RAV4 Prime like it is on the PiP and Prime so you can plan on placement. Enjoy!
