    Google says:

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there were 114,533 gas stations in the U.S. at the end of 2012, the last year for which data is available.

If we crunch, then if we get 200+ mile bevs we found from previous studies people need about 10%-15% of stations to be available for people to be comfortable. That would probably be around 15,000 L3 stations in the continental US, but ... if we espect low penetration in states like indiana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, etc that can probably drop to 10,000. In those states you only need chargers on pass through routes and tourist locations, tesla should have travel coverage by 2017.

We are at 11,400 L2, chademo, and tesla stations - plenty for initial adopter tesla and chademo customers if there is 200 miles of range in the cars. Combo plug is behind but bmw should have it beefed up in a couple of years.

Then the early majority probably needs 10,000 L3 100 kw stations. Here tesla is at 251. It jumps to 1226 including 50 kw chademo. I'd say we are 12% of the way to being truely tesla friendly. The number is growing rapidly though. In 10 years its likely the quick chargers will be there for road trips and they will be fast.

no argument. 10 years seems reasonable, if government doesn't get in the way.

You know, fuel cells running on nat gas or methanol or etc. He was saying we'll be seeing a lot of new tech from the auto industry (not necessarily Nissan) and he was slightly unclear but I think he was saying fuel cells other than H2 fuel cells (on-board H2 generation I presume)

Wawa is going to be doing their part to help relieve my range anxiety by developing the property where the Pontiac dealer used to be in my township. They will probably install a dozen gas pumps in front of their store. The immediate neighborhood is underserved since 2 gas stations closed. (One is an empty lot, the other is a repair shop.) As it is, I pass 6 gas stations when I go to the one I prefer.

Just saw an older Lexus from when the X face started appearing. It was nice, but the above has gone too far, and, well, jumped the shark.
