I plan to use the factory Rally-II's if they will fit with hub adapters. If not, Year-One makes new "Rally-II Style" wheels that I know will fit with the same hub adapters.

No, no, not at all. I was traveling all weekend and just got back in time Monday night to make the post about buying the Prius v before I went to bed. I don't have access to Prius Chat anywhere else other than at my home computer. I don't use my cell to go on-line (by choice.) You just need to be patient with me. I'm old-school on some things.

Next step once there is weather in Ohio warm enough on the weekend is to go over the new v in the garage and begin removing things that won't be used on the finished car. Now that the car is here, I can go back and forth between the two bodies to work out exactly how things will eventually fit together. It should be a good summer. :)

In my misspent youth... I remember driving on a ski trip across Montana in the back of a van sitting in lawn chairs.

thanks - some web sites block hot linked photos ...
But IIRC - there was another member who did a Prius chop. I'll see if I can pull it up (and not hot link it) ;)

Steve at AutoBeYours.com used to have one that was more like a Landau.

    If you're ever feeling extra 'convertible-balzie' .... try doing it to your $100k vehicle;

Ordered the Torklift Central hitch with a 2" receiver last night.

    Torklift Central | 2012-2014 Toyota Prius V EcoHitch® - Toyota - Find Your EcoHitch® - Trailer Hitch and Towing

This is the one chassis modification that I needed early so I could be sure that the Firebird rear panel wouldn't interfere with it. Since the Firebird's rear bumper is a little further away from the rear wheel, I am expecting that I will eventually need a receiver extension to carry the bike rack on the back.

I already have the bike rack from one of my previous cars.

Drove the Prius v out of the garage today to turn it around and I thought a neighbor driving by was going to run her car off of the road. The double-take was hilarious! Fortunately she didn't hit anything (or anyone!)

    Bill,

I've read your signature dozens of times, and my brain aways thought it said "Firebird". What is the meaning of the name?

Did you read the thread?

The OP is putting a Firebird shell on the rolling chassis of a hybrid Prius v. Hence a Firebird/hybrid or Firebrid. ;)

    Thanks,

I did not read the entire 6 pages... but I knew about project. I just didn't put together the etymology of the word. I'll blame it on having a senior moment. ;)

That's OK. The name Firebrid was intended to make people do a double-take, just as the finished car will do. o_O

    Dis-assembly continuing.

I'm going to have a lot of body parts left over...

Aligned the "v" next to the Firebird body with the rear axle centers aligned.

Everything aligns where I expected it to be. All systems are go.
