The hunt for hydroedges :/

Tires installed, will see how much gas i save on the next fill-up. I am at 43.5 right now but I was more than half way through this tank.

I did reject the gas pedal fix, floor mat removal, and software upgrade to disable the gas when the brakes are pressed. In all my years of prius, I never had "sudden acceleration" that that is with 3 years on my 08, and driving an 04 and 05 on and off.

Total for dealership tire install and alignment: $148.00 + 2.5 hour wait

 

actually no- my 2008 does not have the brake override and I want it that way. When someone is on my nice person I jam on the brakes but keep myself rolling with the gas. I know it eats the brakes and I do not do it for a long time but I can assure you that the brakes do not override my gas in anyway.

This is really for those extreme situations and despite not doing it often I wanted to preserve my ability to do it so I said hell no to the software upgrade.

They ran my vin and asked me if i wanted it so I guess something came up on it

 

Also, I tested to make sure they did not upgrade anything anyway at the dealership when I backed out of the parkingspace by holding the service brake about half way with my left foot and accelerating in reverse with my right. The car dragged but moved from a resting position. I tested it again driving through the lot, same method just in drive this time- same result. At all times I was able to get the car rolling with some pressure applied to the service brake. If i was flooring the brake and pressed the gas I do not know what would happen but that isnt really the point. At no time did engaging the brake not allow me to accelerate.

 

I dont know. For sure I can say that at speed (like 70ish mpg) I can brake and hold speed at the same time. It works very well dealing with the tailgaters and typically they change lanes after you scare them like that. Naturally I feel the drag doing it, but it is not the feeling of braking when you just take your foot off the gas and brake normally.

Maybe the 2005 car is question was serviced and upgraded?

Experiment, hold the brake at 50% and try to accelerate. Am I really the only one that can do it?
