if thats what you need in your vehicle, then great for you... I have no desire for Prius c or rather Yaris Hybrid thats sold in Europe. I think it is crappy vehicle in everything else but its engine, and 2nd glove box is 189th priority I have in my vehicle. At least in Yaris, it was always source of unwanted noises.

When it comes to cupholders and cellphone storage G4 has far superior solution to c and G3, or my Lexus which barely has any usable space anywhere.

Hybrid Yaris dashboard is completely different, and with C/Aqua it is petty you can't get it in EU.

With respect to being crappy, Toyota generally builds crappy plebeian cars, not sure what the problem is. Yaris or Corolla or Camry or Prius it is all the same. They are noisy, don't handle well and don't look good either.

Aqua/C dash layout is more ergonomic and practical than Gen3, and sadly Gen4.

I think the problem is that I take you seriously even when you say that Yaris, Corolla, Prius and Camry are all the same :).

G2 Yaris had similar design dash, and my bro has one, he uses it to store crap that he doesnt need and it ends up making noises. There are side pockets, there are 3 glove boxes (so its perfect, right?). And yet most important part - cupholders are not right... unlike on G4 Prius. All those moving parts make a lot of noise after few years. Prius c is actually backward when it comes to the usability to G2 Yaris, which had even moving rear seat (both horizontal and seat backs).

i'll put my muffin in the phone holder. now, i have to put it on the passenger seat, and it always rolls back and forth and crumbs fly everywhere. or if i slam the brakes, it winds up on the floor.

    merge

who makes a good, thoughtful, utilitarian interior anymore? i haven't seen one. everyone is into artistic, like you're gonna be happier driving around in a sculpture.

The dash layout and door pockets with cup holders to hold contigo mugs/water bottles was what sold C to me. Hard plastics looked cheesy in one color, but two tone looks fine, and unlike Gen3 you don't have to bang knees getting in/out. The only thing I wished the rubber insert in storing slot in front of steering wheel to lock cell phone and be able use GPS w/o flying it out in the turns.

agreed, i would like to see better cell phone place, and more flat surfaces to use temporarily when on a trip. i wish i had a storing slot in front of the steering wheel.

it's like when i'm driving my 95 year old father. he always takes off his sunglasses when he gets out, and puts them on the dashboard. and they always slide off onto the floor.

Yes they are all boring average looking bad handling not so practical very reliable overengineered cars. Well Gen4 is pretentious boring average looking mediocre handling not so practical likely reliable car. You get the drift.
    .
To Lady Gaga Gen4 reference in article, does it mean that Gen4 should be put into leper colony and any contact with it avoided as it has been done in the past?

I was thinking more of the Prius liftback and its lineage.

Interesting. I rarely take out my phone because I use BT-A and BT handsfree so there's no need for me to take out the phone and place it in the car somewhere.

I applaud Toyota for designing the G4 Prius this way. Why? Toyota is a traditional company. It plays it safe and conservative and it has helped it go through difficult times (like 2008-2009) but in terms of design, Toyota also has played it safe. It's been lauded as boring, as white as a fridge, snoozemobile and the Camry is basically the Japanese equivalent of a Buick and not the new Buick.

If Toyota wants to be bold, I'd say go for it. As long as it doesn't look like the Mitsuoka Orochi (see below), I'm good with it.

Really? The Gen 2 and 3 have superior storage solutions to the Gen 4.

Well in Dannys video it was explained why they got rid of the second glove box,but I am quite sure they will ad aditional storage options in the refresh 2019 !
At least Toyota kept the fairly big center console box, that's more you get from other car makers where it's usally very small if there at all !

That is true. It will be difficult or costly to add a second glovebox to the midlife update. My guess is that they may do something with the tray below the shifter. It might be based on feedback they get from PriusChat! (Remember how they changed the 2nd cupholder for 2012 because there were complaints about exposing the contents of the console box while the vehicle is parked and the cupholder is in use?).

I recall that point in the video, where Danny asked about the nixed upper glove box. But I don't recall the reason given. Mighta zoned out; what was the explanation?

Design. You get a lower dashbboard and one that isn't visually impacted by a horizontal door.

toyota has reduced storage in each gen. but the new cupholder/storage area is the best they've come up with yet.

I know people have different needs, but my glove boxes are like time capsules... I just keep putting stuff in them, until nothing else fits... then I never open them again. I won't miss the extra storage.

Ditto. I'd like to have a change drawer like the Camry/Corolla do.

In the upper glove box I have....: gloves. Well: heavy duty, lined, waterproof gloves, for tire changing and the like.

lol. You're lucky I cleaned out the foldable map of Lake Louise, otherwise I could at least claim I have some maps in there ;).
