Very true. However I-40 is THE major through-fair East /West - for over a hundred miles north or south, that you might have to go out of the way - just to avoid the dead zone - due to no supercharger in that area.
338 miles between Oklahoma City and Little Rock! Go that route, and I'll bet you see more than one Tesla doing only 55 mph

So meanwhile, many super chargers getting packed into the Dallas area, that you might have to drive south to get to if you needed to supercharge. With superchargers primarily designed to travel interstate, one struggles to see the wisdom of packing many in one area, while they leave a major interstate hanging in the breeze.

Perhaps a local car dealer has strong ties to the zoning board or permit office.

My father-in-law lives just north of Fort Smith, and you can certainly tell the town is not booming. That would lend logic to dictate any business that they can get is good business .... especially in a depressed area.

Visiting my Mom, our first plan was to use a "ShorePower" station in Ozark AR but the clerk claimed they were down and I didn't have the right style plug. I was able to plug into a 120 outlet to get enough reserve miles to reach Fort Smith where I knew there was an RV park with 30/50A service.

The RV park was nice but there had been several inches of rain and it was a low area. I'm pretty sure my wife was bit by a bad-water mosquito and spent seven days in the hospital getting IV antibiotics. Regardless, a 5 hour nap put enough charge to reach Tulsa and clear sailing the rest of the way. Between camping-in-the-car in an RV park or staying at a motel/hotel with distribution or J1772 EVSE, we can overlap a nap with getting a full charge.

A SuperCharger at Fort Smith or within 25 miles would have made our trip to Mom's a lot easier. On the way back, we drove to Springfield MO and put a long charge to reach Little Rock AR. Once we got South of Branson, it became a two lane, hilly mess that didn't go back to four lane until 25 miles North of Little Rock.

we were back in Nashville 2 weeks ago, for 2 weeks. Drove to Branson to watch a couple shows, then, we experienced the same thing you just mentioned. Rolling Hills & gentle curves on 2-lane roads. Very Scenic, as we weren't rushed. We had our 1st experience at a 1st-hand siting of tornado damage. About a dozen houses, ending with a pretty large church with its roof sitting right next to it. My better ½ commented, "I thought it was odd - everyone having their roofs replaced at the same time, until I saw the church"

The superchargers are a marketing strategy. They are concentrated where people with means live to sell the cars, not provide transportation efficiency. Superchargers are like click bait. They attract purchases.

    Our goal is 55:).

We are thrifty and planning very carefully ;).

But if it could happen earlier, I wouldn’t argue (y).

This is simply FUD. Any actual evidence or sources for them being "a marketing strategy?" They are concentrated where people are buying the cars and where they travel most frequently. The places that are still sparse are because Tesla owners there are sparse. For a company that is trying to pinch pennies, is setting up a bunch of Supercharges that sit empty most of the time a wise use of resources? Use some common sense and stop spouting your propaganda against Tesla. It's nauseating.

Even if it is a marketing strategy, it is a better use of resources than TV ads.

You could be driving across the Badlands of the Central Valley Calif for 100's of miles then arrive at 2 dozen empty superchargers. We would arrive around 5:30 am. Stop by 12 hours later, and you might have to wait 5 or 10 minutes to get on. Most people would go into the Harris Ranch restaurant. Never a finer rib eye was ever prepared or - you just go in for a bathroom break. Point being, most congested city superchargers are where the local scofflaws are charging up for free, being members of the 1st 200k units or so sold - most of which got free supercharging.
So, the same 2 dozen superchargers that look wastefully empty, really just turn on time & location.
