I doubt a non-profit foundation is going to invest in Tesla

He pretty much only works with his foundation nowadays.

Agreed. TSLA can't catch a break. It is painful to watch the stock plummet.

yeh, this should be monopoly money. still, i figure they're either going to survive, or get bought. they're too big, in too many places, and too much at stake.

someone might inevitably get a bargain, but i doubt bankruptcy is in the cards. ford and gm though? they scare me

They aren't likely, but it wouldn't worry me, or at least not Ford. Ford is investing into EVs on different fronts all ready, including $500 million into Rivian. Even GM is more keen on plug ins than Toyota. Then I think Musk would arrange for Tesla to have some independence in such a case.

The company has the technology, but is inexperienced in mass production. Being smaller, also means less buffer when an issue arises. With an established car company buyer or partner, Tesla can get help improving their production, and their technology can be spread out among more other brands. That should help with the balance sheets.

Nice U.S. May sales numbers for Tesla. The June quarter will be even stronger

I was thinking they might drop off due to people wanting to get the model y.

Having watched monthly plug-in sales trends for a good while, it's safe to say the rule is that vehicle sales increase monthly throughout each quarter. So sales in Mar>Feb>Jan is the norm and Mar>Apr is the norm.

One additional thing should make for an even better June sales month for Tesla: the federal tax credit gets halved again the following month. Get 'em while they're hot...

All of this is encouraging with the Model Y down the road, knowing that despite those holding out sales still are growing robustly.

And let's not forget that there's a whole lot of 'Murica out there who might be convinced to forsake gasoline/diesel for the electron, à la Tesla pickup truck. A quick look at the usual traffic shows many pay $$ north of the cheapest model 3 to have the pleasure of a commute in one of these ICE beasts. Go BEV and can someone say more torque?

Every single day there are new people that are switching to electric. This trend will only speed up, it's simply inevitable. Right now Tesla is the only EV I can recommend for people in the midwest due to spread out cities and lackluster infrastructure (other than Superchargers, but even that could improve).

Except around I-40 Fort Smith Arkansas. That has continued to be the supercharging Wasteland for the past two or three years. One of our mods here, Evan, has written to Tesla about it - to receive nothing but crickets.
