As the Tesla stock price, just now $905, increases, there is an increase in Tesla critical 'reports.' It used to be traced directly to the SHORTs but that source was never a hard requirement.

Fantastic! A reason to trade-in my 2019 Model 3 for something even nicer ... I wonder what that might be.

I don't know the validity of the claims being made by the Ford Engineer.
I don't own a Tesla, nor have I disassembled one looking for either build quality or engineering flaws.

But I believe the truth outs.
Automobiles are products being sold to consumers. If the build quality and engineering standards of Tesla's products are sub-par? We won't need initial reports, or anonymous rogue commentary.

With the passage of time, it will become simply inevitable truth.

As a very distant observer of these mechanics, I would also say, Tesla IS a start up automaker. I think it is possible that they have growing pains as they embrace what that means as a whole.

It's Chitty Chitty Bang Bang....you can build a flying car, but if the fenders fall off and their aren't enough cup holders people are eventually going to complain.
Right now, Tesla enjoys the protective aura of what they have done right, in creating products that have caught the imagination of the public. I believe they have helped change the tide for the future of auto building.
Anyone impressed with the total number of electric and hybrid vehicle commercials shown during the Superbowl? I was. And part of that reality was seeded NOT by Ford, GM or even Toyota, but by Tesla. Tesla has shown there is the possibility and the market for "no compromise" electric vehicles.

Does Ford even herald an Electric Mustang, without the success of Tesla?- I don't think so.

In the meantime? These are glass houses, you can throw stones.
In a year or two, we can have a rogue Tesla engineer disassemble an Electric Mustang and tell us what they think about the engineering and build quality.

I have no doubt that Tesla was able to hire some experienced automotive engineers, so not quite the start up from scratch as implied.

What I understand is that, as an example, with the large screen, a step down in reliability was chosen, to achieve the size.

I'm pretty sure my sis-in-law has at least seen Tesla's requirements. (No rogue there). I don't think she'd kid around that they are not as strict as the other automakers in the requirements listed to potential suppliers. What I can honestly say is that her company was not chosen to supply said PCB, so they may have gone with another one that did provide higher specs that are not listed as required. Conversely, it could be they went with a cheaper offer as well. That part I just don't know...

I figured it was resentment because TSLA stock is up 3x the price I paid and I'm using profits to pay off my Std. Rng. Plus Model 3. So I have 'hands on' and he is left 'baying at the moon' repeating the opinions of others without doing his own hands-on testing.

Such posts are a little trollish but we've seen similar behavior in the past. Remember the TDI Jetta drivers who came to tell us us how bad our cars were. I remember from 2005-2019 when we owned a 2003, 2010, or 2017 Prius.

There are areas of the country where an EV would be impractical compared to a Prius or other vehicles. I don't look down and talk trash about them because their requirements come first. As for the other stuff, I believe my 'lying eyes.'

This post was the first I've heard that their stock is up. I don't follow individual stocks - of any company.

I don't own a Tesla, but I'm in Silicon Valley, where Teslas are everywhere. There are probably at least 8 in the company parking lot right now. I don't see these 'fit and finish, panel gap' issues. I think my Prius Prime has some bigger panel gaps than some of these Teslas.

I've owned mostly Toyotas and one Ford Explorer, and let me tell you, that engineer has a lot of hutzpah to be complaining about Tesla quality. After a couple of years, the Explorer had so many problems that with some of them the dealer suggested just living with the problem because it was only going to break again in a couple of months (things like rear windshield wiper and buttons to open the door lock--the list goes on and on). And remember that Tesla is a car startup making cars for the first time (the first new volume car manufacturer in the US in 100 years), so he sure as heck knows how unfair it is to make these comments about an early version of the car.

Ford has started really going after Tesla. When they did Mustang Electric Mach-E reveal (a direct Model Y competitor) it was right next to where Tesla does its reveals. When asked if this was on purpose, there was lots of 'wink-wink nudge-nudge' responses. I'm sure this isn't the last time we'll hear Ford employees trash talking the Tesla.

We've found that when TSLA stock goes up, the SHORTs publish every negative thing they can about the product, the company, and Elon Musk. It is a pattern the SHORT sellers have been repeating for over a year that I've been following Tesla stock, TSLA. I expect we'll see even worse.

But like 'The Boy Who Called Wolf,' we've groan immune to the SHORT musings.

Of course there might be a response to the Cybertruck threat to the F-150. Makes perfect sense to try to take back market share with an SUV competitor to the Y....

Well, the last time I bought or sold an individual stock was 20 years ago, and I've never ever been short anything. I'm a buy-and-hold index funds type. I make a trade an average of once every 5 years or so.
