My son, who is 22 now learned to drive my 5 speed manual Volvo and prefers a stick shift to an automatic. Go figure.
It seems that familiarity is the most important thing, regarding shifters. For many years, I had driven only manual transmission cars. Then, I bought my 2010 Prius. I got used the shifter, and it's "go to park" when shutting the car off. For six years, I drove only the Prius, and manual transmissions. Then, I got an automatic Corvette, with a regular console shifter, and keyless push button starting. At first, I kept leaving it in drive when I shut off the engine. It "reminded" me that it was not in park, because the electric door latch would be disabled, and I'd need to use the "emergency" door release on the floor. I still occasionally have this happen. I occasionally put the Prius in park manually, if I want to listen to the radio while stopped, but I almost never use neutral. I almost never use the parking brake on any car. I use it only if parked on a steep enough hill that I feel it might damage the park mechanism in the automatic, or that the manual transmission car might roll in 1st or reverse.
It's almost as if you read and believe all the FUD nonsense in the news. They aren't going bankrupt. That idea is pure close-minded speculation. Nothing more.
Just for fun .... I love posting fake insider news about Tesla bankruptcy just to watch how fast Goldman Sachs picks it up & then relays it to gullible people. Don't feel bad though, it took almost 2 days for my last "secret source" to be picked up. .
