Funny how radar and lidar were inferior to optical Auto-pilot sensing and thus unnecessary, but now radar could have prevented the 'white on white' Florida crash (no kidding). His legal staff is going to rue having to defend that statement.

    understandable .... and that'd be what .... recharging in under 10 seconds. I've watched gassers refuel in under 10 seconds .... if you don't mind exposing your family & friends & loved ones to the downside;

And well - there's exposing yourself to all of the carcinogens as well ... but think of all the time you saved! Boy I sure feel stupid being willing to wait 10 or 20 minutes to charge a plugin.

No, that's only around three times faster than now.

Ahhhh i see - so that'd be 5 or 6 minutes, turning on pack size. Quite generous of you. Hopefully all the folks who have similar expectations won't be disappointed when manufacturers don't Pander to the ⅛ of 1% with similar expectations — it'd be like expecting the manufacturers of gassers to spend hundreds of billions in order to build cars that don't catch fire & kill people but once every 3 or 4 billion miles (over 30X less than present day gasser stats .... only that multifold stat is getting greater as Tesla has never resulted in a burn death in its cars)
Truly life is a series of trade-offs. Here's to hoping your trade-offs down the road won't be too 'costly' in a non-monetary sense

There is a thread on the Tesla Motors site that shows from a linked article the driver committed suicide. Same as the suicide off of a 300' Malibu Cliff several months ago. There's gotta be a better way, although a school of piranhas would be worse.....

That would be convenient for Tesla, if true. May even drum up some demand.

Sure. As earlier stated, beats the piranha scenario. If necessary, suicide-by-Tesla test drive. Most of them seem to drive as if that's their objective, anyway. 'No situational awareness, clueless about surroundings' doesn't begin to describe it.

Some ofthe articles that reported this were done seemingly as clickbait to either drive readers to their site or to agitate Tesla owners.
Tesla driver dies after slamming into tree in the Netherlands
If you see driver's cabin - note no sign of burning. One thing notable was after hitting the tree at a hundred mph or so - the battery completely separated from the cabin that the driver was in. Ironically the emergency responders seeing the later battery fire (separated) made them reluctant to go near the car in fear of electrocution. Looks like a little more training may be necessary.

Takes 45 minutes now, so a third of that is ... "5 or 6 minutes".

The idea is to get enough to get to the next supercharger station with 8 minutes of charge - around the time it takes a family to get to the bathroom and back.

Sure, one more subsidy for Tesla. The place 'runs' (to the extent it does) on them.

More inconvenience to outsource on first responders.

Why shouldn't Tesla pay for the courseware and practical demos?

Weather Tesla GM Ford or other plugin builders, I don't know which agency or manufacturer pays for training.

Toyota dealerships fund local first responder training on hybrid platforms, bring vehicles to demonstrate (short of K12 saws and Jaws). Well-received here.

Fine - so I guess your shorts are all bunched up about "tesla only" training costs because you have a link to show they're different from all other manufacturers? I'll stand by while you paste that bit of info - that I don't seem to be able to find.
But - distinguishing Toyota, it's rather surprising how offended you AREN'T, that their hydrogen vehicle had to get safety waivers and iirc, it had to do with matters of high-voltage lines & or fuel lines. Just saying, best not to throw stones living in a glass house

EV vs. hybrid. Structural design and systems. Yep. ALL DIFFERENT.

No doubt Musk feels every municipality OWES TESLA, right? Certainly the way he approaches facility location 'competition'. Bend over, eh?

Good will and paying it forward just aren't in his lexicon -- unless he's the designed recipient, of course.

Glass house builder and resident Musk oughta pay up, for a change. But that will never happen. Musk's struggling businesses are addicted to subsidy like some struggling folks are addicted to crystal meth.

Feel free to show us how any of Musk's businesses work without credits and outright subsidies.

Hell, don't tell us, tell Chanos. (And good luck with that.)

Falling back on the good ol' old subsidy alibi. Then, the circuitous answer (that similarly adds nothing to the discussion) is, "take subsidies away from the oil companies and see how gassers fair" . I'm sure the presidents of Exxon & BP are looking out for your best interests. Just take a look at what happened to the Gulf Coast or the Valdez debacle up around Alaska. No, you're right, it's all about that evil bastard Musk. Let's all continue to hope he fails.

Let's not mention that the subsidies Tesla is taking advantage of were written for, and in some cases by, the large auto companies.
