Hi DaveinOlyWA, Do you know in which threads hypermilers have talked about hitting 70+ with the 17" wheels? I cannot find them. Thanks.
I get around 46 in WV with mostly highway driving at 70+ (wife driving most of the miles). I can (by trying) get 50 to 51 on the trip she makes daily and gets 44 to 46. I gave up and told her not to worry about it, as 45 average for her still makes this a pretty incredible car.
CleanMPG has a guy who hit more than 70 mpg in a non-hybrid. if i were to change my driving habits, i could do it to, but then it defeats the purpose of having a Prius. its easy to make a short inefficient trip and longer higher mileage trip. but that is a waste of time, money and resources. i have too much now that i need to do that gets put off due to lack of time, motivation or whatever. sometimes, driving the Pri gets a bit narcotic. getting another mpg, or testing various routes, etc. all good, but all should be moderated to fit well with the rest of my life
I have just completed a 500 mile journey in my Silver T4 Spirit. Refilling the tank produced an average fuel consumption of 60 MPG Imperial with ECO selected, so hopefully it will get better. My 1.5 Litre Prius2 gave an average of 58 MPG imperial over 15000 Miles
I just filled up today and I tried something different, I was in power mode the entire last tank. I got the best mileage I have ever gotten since getting the car, previous best was 51.8, I got 53.4 this go around.
Your first grade math needs a bit of help... You are taking numbers with (3) significant figures, and somehow changing the accuracy of the answer. 11.9 x 64.3 =765 --> not 765.17 as you stated. In addition, 11.9 x 59 = 700 - not 702.1 Just a bit of common sense for our padded hybrids...
