Here's mine. I asked for red tails with no cut outs then cut out small rectangles for the reverse light myself. It took a little patience, a hair dryer, and help from a second person to get a half decent install. I could definitely do a better job if I ever do it again.

That looks real good on the Black Prius. (I've always like red and black together)

What do you do about scatches on your black Prius? Mine is black and I Have a lot of scratches to deal with. Some are minor but it is annoying. It seams like the black scratches very easily.

Black is the worst. I just don't worry about it otherwise I'd go crazy.

looking good man!!! Good job installing urself!! I'm a diy kinda guy but dangit I suck at overlays.. I tried to do my old roof black before and it came out sooo bad..

I'm suprised more people haven't done this mod yet.. High impact low cost !! I wanna see more variations!!! Lol

Thanks. It took a little time to figure out a good technique. These tail lights have to be the hardest to overlay due to all the sharp angles. I just took my time and worked from the inside out to the corners laying down approx 1/8" - 1/4" at a time with a soft cotton rag while heating with a hair dryer to keep the material flexible. I did have some bubbles, I pierced these with a razor blade point and then flattened. Once flattened they are virtually invisible.

I too am surprised more people have not done this inexpensive (and easily reversible) mod. The clear tails always bugged me and now I am much happier with the overall look of the car.

B@t™ Here are pictures I promised you! Forgot to email these out to you.

Overlay with an amber insert for the turn signal. The amber definitely makes the car look a bit different than just the red overlays. Some have liked it, some don't. Good thing about vinyl is that it's not permanent!

Thanks B@t™ for getting these to me!

Look at my icon - I did this mod a year or so ago, with pre-cut film from Lumin-X and installed by a pro. I had him make cut-outs for the turn signals and backup lights. Much cheaper than replacing the whole tail light assemblies, and red looks great against the blue.

I also don't like the look of the stock tail lights - too chrome.

I did do the install myself. It was a pain in the butt because of the curves in the tail light. I'm a fan of amber lenses on taillights in general, but not sure if I like the way they sit on the Prius. I think I'll pull off the amber vinyl at some point.

I did mine awhile back(about 3 month ago) buying a red vinyl sheet & doing the cut out myself. Also, I cut out a small elongated rectangle downward as I wanted something alittle different;). Totally agree w/ u ocblack that the prii taillights are hard to do because of all the curves & hard angles especially doing alone and agree that I could do a better job 2nd time around:D. Looks good. I was going to say I think an all red tail light with a cutout for the reverse lights and replacing the amber turn signal bulbs with red bulbs, or clear bulbs with red overlay, would look good.
