Well, that will kill an engine.
Wouldn't the bent one come up short and travel down farther?
    Interesting use of welding rods.
Sorry for your loss. Good luck with your next one!

Has the apparent head gasket breach around one o’clock on cylinder number one been noted?

I think we have a failure to communicate (which may be an understatement).

Yes it was the reason I did the headgaskets.

So in the end I believe I did a successfull headgaskets job. But I was unaware of the stuck open fuel injector which caused the bent rod on #4. Forcing me to upgrade to a gen 4 engine. Overall I feel good I did the job right, I had no clue about the injector so I can sleep good at night.

So, your car does run? New engine good, old engine - post mortem?

Yes car runs great! This is the old gen three engine I did a headgaskets job on. It never run fine after headgaskets job turns out it had multiple issues. 1.open fuel injector 2. Clogged EGR ports that caused misfire. 3. Bent rod due to open injector.

Yes, I just got another one. There are quite a few for sale. Anywhere from 3k to 4500. With around 200-300k miles.

Do you know how many miles are on the engines they install? Are they the jdm engines, or 100k miles plus? If we install the 50k jdm engines, might be able to raise the price. Also, I assume they clean egr cooler. Also will need bad hv batt modules replaced. It's basically a rehab car. Then what about the tranny? Do they last forever? Of do they / should we at least replace the tranny fluid?

My new project. 2011 with solar roof. Charcoal Gray. Paid
$2,500. Runs, but has blown hg. Brought home on tow dolly. Smoking out tail pipe. 236k miles. Going to get gen4 jdm engine with 50k miles. This will be my baby. May use the gen 4 egr cooler, not sure yet. Did not on the first swap. 3rd gen egr was very clear to reconnect, but once you comprehend it, it's smooth sailing. Really wish the 4th gen header would mount, but it's a no go as @Ragingfit showed in his vids. I don't know much about the solar roof, but a cool upgrade forsure. Will order new engine tomorrow. Thanks for the tip. What kind of issues required removal of cowl / wipers?
I had a backup vehicle so I was able to drive it enough to burn out all oil and gunk from exhaust system, then I put everything back together. So far so good.

Sorry, the area I'm looking on Craigslist is general for sale and cars and trucks for sale by owner. In Facebook market place, I'm just in market place, but I'm also part of other local car groups and I should be checking in them as well. I'm in Austin TX, and that's where I'm finding my cars. However, there are a lot more in the Houston area, I just haven't had to drive the 4 hr round trip to get one since I'm finding them locally.

It's not too hard to mod the car so the solar panel helps maintain the 12 volt battery charge (and it can even do that without losing the ventilation function!). Can be useful if, say, a pandemic cuts into your driving habits.
